Yes music can elevate your spiritual feelings. Different songs have meanings for us all, we get inspiration from the writer's inspiration and truth.
Also we "tune" into the vibration of the music and vibration has a lot to do with spirituality.
At a weekend retreat I was once at we sat around a small fire and sang songs, one person started to sing "love can build a bridge" and the rest of us joined in, we ended up with tears streaming down our faces. It was beautiful and very powerful and spiritual.

Not necessarily the ones you've mentioned, but to each their own.

I have no clue what spirituality really means. But the best music - religious or not - can truly be 'transportative'. It can give you a fleeting glimpse of planes of existence that we're not aware of, or normally ignore. It can give you a glimpse into the depths of the human mind, which is, perhaps the only kind of 'sprituality' there is.

Try turning off all of the lights in an empty room and playing either John Coltrane's 'A Love Supreme' or Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's 'Jewleh Lal' or 'Ali Haq Haq Ali' quite loudly. Close your eyes and think of nothing except the music. Both of these songs are songs of devotion to their various gods. I may not believe in their gods, but they are clearly tapping into some corner of the human consciousness that we might as well call 'spiritual'.

God created music - in fact, Lucifer (ie: Satan's given name in heaven ) was in charge of creating the music there in the beginning! That was his special "gift". The bible often says that "'THE MUSIC ROSE UP TO HEAVEN AND HE WAS DELIGHTED"! What the controversy is about, is that a lot of music has lyrics or anti-God references that cause people to take offence. Also, many rock bands have had strong connections to the occult, and this in itself leads christian minded people to baulk! However, I believe that as long as your heart is in the right place and there is no worshiping of the performers, then music can be a really soothing thing, and, let's face it, the world has 6 billion people - with 6 billions individual tastes in what they like to listen to.!! I like the same sort of music as you - and it has never stopped me from loving and serving God.

Not really..But I am not sure if You have heard of Indian Classical music...In this spirituality and music go together...It is also very unique in the sense that this is the only system which has a system called Raga and each Raga(loosely translated as tune)has its own distinct identity..

U2 definitely!
"I have climbed the highest mountain.
I have run through fields
Only to be with You.
Only to be with You."

These lyrics really describe what it feels like sometimes to be seeking after God.
I am a Christian worship-leader and I have from time to time incorporated these lyrics into other songs for emphasis.

These rock bands/ worldly ones when I used to listen to them made me angry and throw me into rage. Same thing with some rap. When I was younger and was mad at my parents I'd listen to Iron Maiden, I would start to go into a trance and worship Satan and have crazy plots against my dad. I'm so thankful to the Lord for saving me.

yes, certainly, music and spirituality go hand in hand, as all our Gurus have preached on this line, youll agree that when you listen to music or sing a bhajan or anything you like, you get into spiritual peace, this can only be realised, cannot be explained, you may also try to vibe music and spirituality, you are surely reaching your destination safely.

There is no proof yet, but most people believe that music can subconsciously affect the mind and change your mood.
