do you think they may have striped it down and built houses out of it since the earth was bare from the wood and all the trees were either dead or water loged?

After 4,416 years, the ark was wood, and upon Mount Ararat exposed to ice and damp, it would have been useless to them. look at stone hinge [some what apart], and the pyramids, these came through the flood.
Noah was age 600 at the time of the flood, Adam had died at age 930, and was dead 126 years, add these up and the flood was 1656 years after Adam was Created, add 350 to that and Noah died 2006 after Adam was created [Abraham was born 2 years later, and at age 75, he lived in tents as well];.
The bible says Noah lived in a tent. Seems his sons and their children lived with him.
By the time there would have been at least 4,000 able bodied men, Nimrod wanted to build a tower to heaven [ from 70 people, in 215 years there were half a million]., so it seems they were not in need of materials to build with.

Noah's ark is still to this day resting on top of Mount Ararat in Turkey where it came to rest when the great flood went down.
It has been found in satellite images, so this is not just my speculation.
The Turkish government will not allow exploration of the mountain, however, so we have to just rely on the satelite imagery.

It is gone... It was made thousands upon thousands of years ago... It WAS on a mountain in the middle east, but I really doubt it is there anymore. It has probably disintegrated into earth...
