I'm going to Hong Kong via Macau next month but am afraid I'll get burnt with the taxi fares alone. We'll be going from the hotel to the ferry terminal after. Anyone can assist?

Taxi's are cheaper in Macau than Hong Kong, flagfall is HK$10 for the first 2km then HK$1.9 every 200m thereafter.

From the airport to the holiday inn will cost about HK$34, and from the Holiday Inn to the Ferry Terminal is about HK$12.

Exchange rate is US$1 = HK$7.80

Have your hotel arrange for the taxi service and ask them to tell you the rate ahead of time. If you feel it is unreasonable, ask them to try another service.

Or, if there is a large number of taxis congregating outside of your hotel, play them against each other and get the best rate that way. They will all want your business and will lower their rates if necessary. Good luck.
