My mom is a jehovah witness. Every since i was a kid i remember that i couldn't carry or pass the microphone because the men were suppost do also us women could not teach the church. i think this is wrong and believe that everybody should have the chance to show thier true colors about God not just men.

Jehovah's Witnesses already believe and teach that women and men are of equal value to Almighty God and to Christ Jesus.

Women have also proven themselves to be wonderfully capable teachers of God's Word, and they will be among the "kings and priests" who rule alongside Jesus Christ.

However, Jehovah's Witnesses have patterned their worship after that of the first-century Christian congregation, which was led by the Apostles and others who had been taught directly by Jesus Christ. Neither Jesus nor the Scriptures ever demean women, but the Scriptures do direct that INSIDE THE CHURCH, women cannot take the lead in teaching the congregation.

(1 Corinthians 14:33,34) As in all the congregations of the holy ones, let the women keep silent in the congregations, for it is not permitted for them to speak [to deliver a sermon], but let them be in subjection

That never pretends that women are not capable teachers, only that their primary teaching role is outside the congregation in house-to-house work and in their families. In truth, many men among Jehovah's Witnesses greatly appreciate the teaching skills of their sisters but the Almighty's clear Scriptural principles cannot be ignored within the congregation structure.

By contrast, the Jehovah's Witness practice of using only men to serve as ushers, attendants, and microphone handlers is not doctrinal, but cultural. In some lands, women and girls do perform these assignments, but in most places interested persons simply expect to see males in these assignments and otherwise would be a distraction from the real message of the Witness meetings.

The Bible states in Genesis, that the female was made by God at a "help mate" for the male. The Bible does not commission females to preach or to become church leaders of the same authority as males. The Bible, however, does not forbid females to teach, to prophesy, to give help or to pray. Why do you want to carry or pass the microphone?

Being equal and being treated with equal rights are two entirely different concepts.

Men and women should have equal rights. I give no support at all to those who would oppress women simply because she's female.

That does NOT mean that they are equal. God and Ma Nature made us different, otherwise women would also have big muscles and men would have children and breasts to feed them.

Women are normally much better at nurturing children and intuitive sense about children. Men are usually much better at hunting, defense and protection, physical labor, and sensing physical danger. We are not and never have been equal and we never will be.

As strange as it sounds, Proverbs 31. That was one hard working woman, she ran her home, she made her money, she paid her servants, she loved her husband.
How about Esther - that chick had it goin' on.
How about Judges 4:4 - Deborah the prophetss RULED Israel.
In Joshua - Rahab saved the Israelite spies

Just as Christ is head the the church, man is head of his family - and doesn't Christ give his church the right to speak?

Your mom doesn't need to change, any change now will destroy her faith, destroy her marraige and family. I am glad you are questioning - questioning is good. Keep your feet firmly planted in the gospel!

You are on the RIGHT TRACK.

No matter how hard you try, your mum won't see things the way you do unless she choses to... if she's content with the way things are, then she is not going to be open for other suggestions to change...

Also, be careful about forcing any "new" ideas on her... she might take it the wrong way and think you're being very disrespectful or something...

best advice change to a religion that is not sexiest because your mother is going to believe what she wants to believe and there is nothing you can do about it. I know this is hard to believe today but some women don't mind being the "weaker" sex. just don't let her put your beliefs down to each their own

If your mom is a believing JW, then there is no chance of having any kind of rational discussion about religion with her since she is living in an irrational world of delusion.

It's pointless trying to justify moral progress by age-old religious scripture. Just say it's your opinion, which is just as valid as that of the people who wrote the Bible hundreds of years ago.

We all see what we want to see.

Why do you want to change your mother so much. Why not to accept her as she is. This would be a true love.
If you have to change somebody then start with yourself. Even better would be to accept yourself and just see what a beautiful person will you become - no effort needed..

She is too old to change her ways now. It would only upset their marriage. You on the other hand can make a difference by teaching your children when you have them.
