It appears that their military forces are all around the world doing some so called "peace keeping"...

The strongest country of the time has always policed the whole world. Go and read up on the Pax Romano and The Pax Britannica.

I would rather be living under the Pax Americana than the Pax Germana, which would have been in place, if Hitler had won WWII.

Go and read the preamble to the constitution of the United Nations. It acknowledges that at times force must be used as an instrument of diplomacy. If peace keepers had been deployed in Rwanda the massacre would not have happened.

Three reasons:

1) Because we can. If this were not true, someone would have stopped us by now.

2) Because as the only superpower, (proven by statement #1 above), when the people running a government prove they are so inept that their own citizens are starving, or said government is so bad the their own citizens are being killed on a massive level, we have the responsibility to step in, just as child services comes to a home and takes away the children who are being abused or neglected by the parents. It's not pretty, but it saves lives.

3) Because our military is under the authority of our president, and he swore an oath to use all of his power to protect the interests of the USA. Not the interests of the European Union, not the interests of China, not the interests of Canada, etc.

Sorry, but that's the way it is. But if you have a problem with the USA, consider this:

At the end of World War II, Europe was in ruins, Africa had nothing, and Asia was devastated as well. The USA had just won a hard fought war that they never wanted to enter. It took a major act of aggression (pearl harbor) to get the USA into that war, but when the war was over, the USA had the biggest, most powerful military on earth, was the only nation that had nuclear weapons, and had a powerful military presence in every strategic point on the globe. If any nation was ever in a position to conquer and dominate the world, the USA was that nation.

Any other great power throughout history, having been in the same type of position, would have exercised that power. But what did the USA do?

1) The USA voluntarily dismantled it's military down to about 1/8th of its strength.

2) The USA created the Marshall Plan, whereby the citizens of the USA would pay to rebuild the nations that had killed hundreds of thousands of our citizens just a few months before.

3) The USA continued to develop nuclear weapons as a deterrent, but in the 60 years since, has shown restraint and has NEVER used such weapons, even against nations who have threatened us or attacked our citizens or our territory.

SUCCESS!

When you use the phrase "peace keeping" I feel you are very correct...
The United States of America strongly believes that All people deserve cirtain human rights no matter from what part of the world they live.
When you say that "the government of the U.S.A. thinks that they can police the world" I think you need to realize WE AMERICANS do not POLICE the world.
The United States of America is part of a much larger entity called "The United Nations" of which many countries are part of.
It is the United Nations that polices the world.
I feel the United States of America just has a Stronger sence of RESOLVE than most...

We haven't always been the elite superpower that we've become. However, we've had forces all around the world for many decades now, long before our status and long before the collapse of communism in some countries.

You can call it a lot of things. Call it "policing". Call it "securing". But don't make the mistake of thinking that we are in places where we're not wanted. Our allies easily outnumber our enemies. The people we have liberated over the last century, the governments in other nations like Japan that we've helped formed, are all appreciative and understand our true intentions. Many want us to stay. Many feel "safer" with us around. Our stationed troops in countries like South Korea and Japan have a noticeable impact on each country's economy.

We're not harming people in those regions. We have NO desire to conquer as opposed to other "superpower" nations of the world's past. Check your facts again.

Believe it or not, there were people in many countries outside of Germany rallying in support for Hitler, even after he invaded Poland and France. I think it is this line of thinking that many people like yourself should be aware of, and take a step back to realize that the U.S. is the deterrence in the world to that happening again...

The United Nations (UN) has requested that the member countries participate in "peace keeping" activities. You just see more USA soldiers because 1) we have a large military, 2) everyone likes to target us, and 3) we do the job right.

The government of the US of A is not arbitrarily going into countries and controlling them. We do so at the request and behest of the country's leaders and/or the UN.

Tell me this: Why does the police department in your town/city think that IT can police your town/city?

The US doesn't want to have to police the world, but it has a responsibility to. Also, we have to protect ourselves. If it doesn't get done (the world being policed/protected), then Americans (and our allies) won't be safe.

so it must be done. If you don't like it, then don't like it.

Nobody said you had to like it.

Because USA needs oil. The batlle is for oil, and it has to be paid in US dollars. If the countries of the world change oil payment to Euro, USA's economy will collapse.

Why you ask? Because they have the biggest army and most powerfulest one there is. No one wants to mess with them. And the UN is not doing its job. They are pretty much useless.
