Very good question.
The Bible does say that your body is a temple. So feeding yourself rubbish and abusing your body is in a sense destroying the temple God has given you. So it is a sin in a way, but it isnt one that affects your salvation.

I battle with this question on a personal level. I think that I practice the sin of gluttony when I eat too much and don't move my body as I should. I also believe that my body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. When I am overweight, due to my own actions, what kind of "home" am I providing for Him? Is He tripping over my fat globs like I trip over toys when I go into my son's room?

whats up! Gluttony is a sin, and also you may word that's in there with alcoholism every time its pronounced in the Bible. Being overweight, on the different hand, is a difficulty that has many factors. jointly with ailments like PCOS that's in demand in women and is a flaw of their hormonal distribution, inflicting them to attain weight, and also crave food even as they can't devour it. also, stress contributes to gaining weight, it really is a scientifically documented actuality. So, no. Being overweight isn't a sin. besides, how are you going to enable a well being care service inform you what weight try to be??? All of those assessments about weight problems are funded with the help of eating routine agencies!!! Do you imagine they don't look to be biased of their conclusions??? heavily? God made people to be all kinds and sizes. no individual has the right to assert what structure someone should be. In end, being overweight isn't a sin. there is many causes for this, notwithstanding it really is in common words a actuality. good question. thanks for asking! Luv ya, Tashi :) P.S. My mom replaced into considered overweight even as she replaced into my age. In all reality, she replaced into skipping very just about each meal, and replaced into borderline anorexic. And yet, she in no way were given less than that overweight line. you won't be able to blame that on gluttony. in actuality, my father continually ate about 5 situations the quantity my mom did (and they were on the threshold of an same correct, too!), yet he replaced into as skinny as a toothpick. My mom, on the different hand, ate extremely some thing and couldn't shed pounds. Gluttony, no matter if it shows on your weight benefit or not, is a sin. It has not some thing to do with being fat. It purely may be an aspect-result. P.P.S. also, some thing else you should aspect in on your questioning is that all and dissimilar the beef we devour (poultry, red meat, red meat, etc.) has been pumped with steroids to get them to strengthen to a particular length to promote for the most money. No workout for our cattle, no! We provide them drugs, because we adore poisoning ourselves! Steroids, as anybody will inform you, reason you to attain weight. in case you devour meat (because the final public of people do), you've taken steroids.

Well, funny question.
Simplistic answer yes because Sloth+gluttony=fatty
But the problem with that is that it probably isn't fair to refer to working long hours at a desk job (which definitely increases the risk of being a fatty) as sloth. Working a desk job is work, it just doesn't burn many calories and so it only takes a little bit of overeating to become a fatty, especially as you age.
So, the anwer is maybe.

well overweight can be caused by various factors thus ITS NOT A SIN by its very nature. however gluttony is a sin, but what will you say about people who eat too much and cannot gain a pound? i eat alot but am only 125.7pounds with a height of 5ft 8 inches, sometimes i think i commit gluttony but there is no physical evidence. Dont judge people by physical appearance, try persona especially employers. you could loose the best.( NOTE i dont eat junk food)

Glutiny is one of the seven deadly sins according to the Catholic church and those that follow. Difficult to define at what point eating becomes glutiny. We all take more than we need because it is so available to us. I don't think it would be fair to call every overweight person sinful. We don't know their situation and its not our place to judge. Weight is a complicated issue. Whatever you think about it the evidence is clear, gastric bypass works a lot better than the holy spirit.

yes i believe it is, especially when you see that our greed and gluttony, and our total consumption is depleting earths natural resources, when you break it all down, really fat lazy people, scoff until they are due to explode, they cant walk far because the blubber wont allow them, so they use more petrol than the average person, industry has to use more oil and what ever else to cook more food to feed the poor souls, and its just a massive downward spiral for them, as far as i am concerned all fast food places should be shut down by government policies, or they should charge double the money for the produce, look at other countries that are suffering and starving because of our stinking rotten greed, hundreds of kids starving to death every day on one side of the world, and people getting gallons of fat sucked off their revolting self made bodies on the other side- people should give a thought for others before stuffing their pig looking faces with un needed food.it really makes me sick when i see fat people because it is all self inflicted.

ggod point that is quite funny what you said. being overweight is a sin, there are enough diseases around that people are dying from there is no need for people to kill themselves by being fat. well i am pissed off with people who eat a load of **** fatty foods and complain they are fat, that annoys me, but because i am a nice person i just encourgae them to loose fat. i have made 3 over weight people thi and i am only 17, i made each one loose 7 stone in a year through hardwork, now they arew some of the healthiest people i know.

Satan takes too much credit just from the things we do....
Satan just tempt us... that IS the fact of the matter... Satan cannot be blamed for the things WE did...
Gluttony is the word for that.. not towards the devil but the person who commits the sin..

It is a sin to eat in excess, because it is selfish. But let me tell you a story about a deceased priest- Fr. Donald Keenen, O.S.B. Fr. Donald was overweight- he went to a family's house to eat and he ate very much. The little girl asked him, "Father, they taught us in school that eating too much is a sin because you get fat, and your body is a temple of the Lord. Why do you eat so much?" He replied, "Little girl, I am just building up the temple."

Yes, against Dr Gillian McKeith. No really, I think gluttony is a sin because if people are greedy not enough food gets shared round. It is a form of selfishness, and selfishness is a sin. You are also sinning against your body.
