I would look for a beginners drills course at your local YMCA, if your an adult or a youth player.
If your below high school level try out for the intermaurals team at your middle school.
If your in high school try to talk to some of the previous players and see if they can give you some tips on were they play, and maybe you can go watch.

Most players learn more from watching then actually playing right away.
Things you need:
Gym clothes, (sneakers, shorts, and tshirts. Nothing low cut as you will be bending over alot)
Knee pads to prevent damage to the knees while diving
Water bottle, you will need fluids as you will sweat
An open mind, and lots of focus!!!
As a coach of 4+ years I love new players that want to learn, I would take 10 brand new players and make them a better team than 10 players that think they know how to play!!! Every coach is different, and they have different philosophies, so plan on learning there way, by being open minded....

get in good overall athletic condition. work on being able to jump high. find a good coach that would give you lessons one on one. and then try out for a team.

A ball(to practice) spandex (to wear) knee pads(to go to the floor)
tenishoes for yur feet./
