Absolutely not!!! If you want to teach the word of God and be married, go join another religion. They are supposed to sacrifice! They are supposed to give themselves to God! I am sorry there are so many that do not understand it. Take a few Catholic classes before you spew your ignorance. They aren't asking you to make the sacrifice.

There are a few bad priests that have made the entire lot look bad. Celibacy does not breed child molesters. Anyone who would spout that kind of ignorance should go do their homework. These people were sick before they became priests and found it easier to give up women because they weren't interested in women. Plus, hullo, easy access to children.

Even so, this law isn't inflexible. Some priests are allowed to marry with special permission from the Pope, and he does make exceptions. Do your research next time, check out the link below.

If the Roman Catholic Church wants to survive, they should make celibacy voluntary.

The real hypocrisy is that there are many married RC priests/ The trick is becoming Catholic but transferring from a church that allows married priests. They can continue to have sex and have children and not a single parish has suffered from married priests. Rather cruelly, if their wife dies they then must be celibate.

The RC Church has a severe shortage of priests and this is the most common reason cited. There are thousands of priests who left the active priesthood to marry. But Rome would rather waste vocations than allow for ministering families. Celbacy was not even required for centuries.

However, don't look for this with the current pope.

female monks - do not imagine so. The structure of the Church is purely too patriarchal. skill is purely too centred contained in the male hierarchy of the Church. Married monks - many each and every individual is unaware that the Catholic Church already facilitates monks to marry, in the journey that they are going to Africa, as missionaries. (it is the only reason behind the vow of celibacy to be damaged among energetic monks). If an energetic priest outdoors Africa chooses to marry, he can change non secular denominations which note the Anglican or 'Episcopalian' ceremony of Christian worship. As to accepting Gays & Lesbians - i don't understand. Its demanding already for the Church to settle for the undeniable reality that some contributors of the priesthood are Pederasts or Paedophiles.

NO!! They are accepted as the descendants of the disciples who, as far as i know, were not married.
The purpose of a priest is to manage his flock, spead the word of Christ, and minister to the needs of his parishioners. There's also the vow of celibacy which the Priest takes when he is ordained.
If Catholic priests were allowed to marry, they would not have the focus that they need in order to follow the teachings of Jesus.

I think they should. I'm not catholic but Abraham was married. Heck he took concubines to have kids. Moses was married. Many of the disciples were married. I think Peter the Apostle who founded the Catholic Church married even. (Could be wrong about that tho)

you are opening a can of worms here
the roman catholic church believes they should not marry, so therefore until the pope says they can...they won't be able to
i, personally, think that if they were allowed to marry if they want that maybe some of the child molesting would stop...
but, that is only MY opinion

Succour at last. If you want a concise definition of hypocrisy, go to the churches. The nun hire artificial pens to arouse and satisfy themselves and the fathers always finds a way round it. I wonder after meeting a father in Nigeria who accomodate a serving corper for about 5days in the same room. We accousted him and he confessed so much. That virtually all papal does it and this secret is kept sacrosanct. I have asked myself so many time about who really imposed this jail term on this hypocrite?
those who are very sincere and kept to this rule among their females have the Jinns to contend with. Jinns [demons] do take advantage of this ladies and copulate with them [says a report from uk].
The natural nature of man is to have sex and to kill it is just a waste of time, because like sleep, it will take its toll.
Let them marry and have children or declare those illegal and bastard chldren they have in the hidding- that will bring some sanity to their house of horror.
I wonder how an unmarried father can adjudicate on my affair with my wife. He simply lacks the needed experience to talk senses.

A priest was recently reading ancient texts in the vaticans most secure secret libraries when he came out shouting and screaming that he must see the pope.
When he eventually spoke to his holiness he said:
"Father we have been so wrong all these years - the scriptrues were badly translated. It actually said 'Celebrate'!! "
