i find this so annoying that i have to remove the tails from shrimp meals. leaving the tails on dont add to the flavor or the visual appeal of the meal.

Sorry you feel that way. Maybe my explaination will help you understand why we do this. We buy our shrimp uncooked with the shell on. Leaving the shell on when it is frozen prevents loss of flavor and damage from the quick chill process. Leaving the tail on denotes to the customer that you are getting the best shrimp possible and not a precooked item.

When your cooking in large quantities such as in a restaurant. You don't have the time to pull tails on 500 or even 1,000 shrimp in a night. If you don't like it pull it or don't order meals with shrimp.
