Here in Chicago we also have fw orgs that run Muslim schools, free clinics and soup kitchens.

In Islam, every person is inchagre of it's contribution and you do not have to be a priest to run such thing.
Women are part of all of these activities and from what I have seen, there are more women incharge of them then women with the exception of free clinic which was founded by a Muslim male doctor.

In Islam there is a clear distribution of responsibility in affairs that deal with the present and the future. Men are primarily responsible for the affairs of the present, and women are primarily responsible for crafting the future of our community.

Men are therefore in the fore front of the current issues, affairs and activities, while women are allowed the time, peace and privilege of crafting all future generations. The Prophet of Islam required that everyone, men and women acquire education and knowledge so that both the current and future of Muslims is protected.

Many people within and outside Islam do not understand this very important core idea, which works with the Divine Plan for all creatures. If the Prime Minister of a country is a woman of child bearing age, then either she has to sacrfice raising a family, and thus lose her future for their family, or sacrifice the needs of her family for the sake of the Country. When you follow the laws of Islam, they are whole and address all needs of all parts of the society.

Man is the head of the family, and the woman is the center of the family. We clearly understand and allocate responsibilities based on these two realities. If there are two heads, we have a problem........ if you have two centers you have a problem too.

Women do not hold any leadership roles in a Muslim organization, and men are clearly allocated the positions in all issues pertaining to the present. This allows the future of a Muslim family in secure hands, while the present is protected.

What a man does if you look deeply will be wasted within his life span. What my father earned and turned into food, I ate up and it was discarded. What my father earned and turned into clothing was also discarded at some points as used clothing. What he earned that turned into electicity, rent, fees, etc was all used up. What remains with me is the work and teachings and upbringing of my mother, which is much more valuable than anything a man can give. A robber can rob and bring home money too.

People who do not have a deeper insight look at the superficial, and do not realize that when the mother works, she is denying the child something that no one else can replace. Anyone can provide money to you, but only the mother can provide the love of a mother. We Muslims understand and appreciate the true value of a woman and do not denigrate her to become a work horse.

A properly functioning society will have less needs of social welfare than in a society which is sick due to the modern pressures and needs. When the mother is not there at home, for whatever reason, then indeed the children suffer the most, as women indeed are the center of the family.

Our mosques are our social welfare centers. We Muslims have been aware of social welfare and have systems in place to take care of our needy for 1400 years. The new social welfare programs that have come about are to supplement the denial of the woman to a family. Think about this one too.

I hope this all makes sense.

Well many mosques her in Egypt run a welfare organization, sponsors an organization or sponsored by an organization.
These organizations have different social activities like Schools, free clinics, charity hospitals, orphanages, child support and projects helping single mothers.
Some of these organizations are really huge that it’s managed by a full organization management crew; others are very small and cover a small area of small population.
Some of these organizations are founded and managed only by women others may have workers from both genders.

Well as far as my knowledge the Imam of the mosque is someone who is mainly appointed to give the religious speech on Friday’s and to lead the prayers only.
The welfare/charity organizations are managed by employees or volunteers, the Imam may work in corporation with them but its not a must to be head of it.
