My nephew has nightmares & talks in his sleep when he eats B4 he goes to bed, but he's 12.

Sleeping right after you have eaten? yes that is true! When you sleep the whole body is resting so everything in you slows down. the food you ate must be digested but since your digestive system does not work the way it should when youre awake, the pancreas will work double time. just like the machines, they heat up when they overwork so they burst up. when your pancreas burst up, it is called pancreatitis. it creates so much damage to your body. Your brain, since it uses the sub concious part, it can not interpret what is going on so it creates bad dream which we call nightmare.

There is no proof to that and the only evidence is speculation. Though, eating right before you go to bed can be a bad idea. Your digestion and metabalism screech to a halt while you sleep, so the food you ate last night is in the same place when you wake up, so if you eat right away when you wake up, it's like eating two meals back to back.

I don't know about nightmares, but I've some real funked up dreams, from eating McDonalds or something else real late at night, coming home from the club. You wouldn't believe the stuff I've dreamed about after eating....but that's stuff I shouldn't post on here, lol.

It might. Some say the eating meat, pork or processed sandwich meat or hot dogs wieners can do it. I think anything that might stimulate your body enough to keep part of it from resting fully will influence your sleep. In restless situations, I think the barrier that form during sleep between your conscious mind and your unconscious mind , never fully forms and one spills into the other as a dream.

I always have very vivid dreams and nightmares if i have a lot of sugar before i go to sleep....chocolate and whatnot....it's crazy......but other stuff not so much. Try it.....eat a candy bar or something right before you go to sleep and see what happens.....

Possibly if you have an obstructive apnea; eating late can worsen this condition and the resulting breathing problems can give you nightmares of drowning, choking or dying.
