To get an accurate answer, you should probably ask the LDS missionaries, who are not hostile, and who have prepared faithfully for their missions. I have been a member for 17 years and am the only member in my family.
The God we worship will always be our God, our Father in Heaven, no matter where we are. The ultimate goal is to live worthy enough to return to live eternally in the presence of God and Jesus Christ.
I have not heard about having our own 'planets.' We do believe that people will be sent to live in different kingdoms, depending on their actions during their life, and their belief and action in the gospel.
I have never met a 'hostile' member, but there are some jerks in the church, just like in any other!
And my definition of a Christian is someone who believes in Jesus Christ as the Savior and Redeemer of the World through the Atonement.
I have never heard a Christian described by the scriptures they use!

I am not a Mormon myself but in the church of the latter day saints (Mormonism) they believe after death you will gain your own planet. On this planet, they rule and are in command of the planet as a God. As for one of the answers already said, God, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost are all the same thing even if Jesus is thought of as the son of God. Notice how these are the Holy Trinity which is God. Remember that Mormons are not truely Christian but a whole new religion. Christianity ONLY follows the old and new testaments (small variations between protestants and catholics). Mormons have the Bible AND the book of mormon. Also to remember that this church was only created less than two hundred years ago so they are still figuring out some of the smaller details.

hmm.. I wonder too. My step bother and his wife are Mormon and they have said to me once when they were being very rude to me that they do believe that they will rule their own planets as gods. I think that they told me of that belief and then chose not to elaborate on it because they were being hostile and also that I am acknowledged as an outsider to their faith in that side of my family. Mormons seem to have a closed society to all except for all those whom are already in the church and all others that are looking to convert are of course more readily welcomed but they must take years to show they are of firmly proven faith before they get into deeper church knowledge. Oh the treachery of those people in this world professing to be the sole group of followers that will ever get to make it to heaven.

Amen, Ewema! Particularly to the part about the fact that there are "jerks" and "hostile people" in any religion. (Mormons don't have the franchise on idiots!) You need to judge a religion based on the gospel it teaches, not on the people that belong to it. The gospel is perfect, people aren't.

Again, I am astonished by the number of people who respond to questions about "Mormons" by starting..."I'm not a mormon, but this is what I've heard they believe."

If you want to KNOW the answer, ask a Mormon...don't ask someone who's heard of Mormons. www.mormon.org is a terrific site, and it is geared towards non-Mormons who would like to know more about our religion.

We really don't know. God has not elaborated on this. Just to note, you gave a very simplified version of the Mormon doctrine of this.

that is a misconception for you.
i've met missionaries for the latter day saints, they are usually called mormons.
but a missionary i met told me that MORMON is just like any prophet. like jesus.
he came out of US mainland, if my memory serves me right, to spread the word of GOD.
