No. Colds are caused by a virus transmitted by coughing, sneezing etc.
It is an old wives tale that began back before people understood about infectious diseases and how they are spread. It probably came about because colds occur more frequently in cold weather when people stay indoors more and are more likely to pick up infection because of close proximity to other people in confined spaces.
P.S. Viruses are not activated by low temperatures. They are not technically 'alive' and only become active once inside the cell of a biological organism.

No Freezing Does Not Give You A Cold,So Don't Worry
A Virus Air Born Gives You A Cold,
Freezing Just Makes you Bloody Cold As In Body Temp Hate Being Cold.

A winter virus is not caused by going out in the cold air. It's viral transmission. In other words, colds are caught by coming into physical contact with someone who already has a cold virus.

It could be. The cold viruses are everywhere, and keep dormant until they are activated by low temperatures, and your body defences are low. Summer colds are the worst.
