No, you should try and keep similar styles and tastes together when pairing food and beer.
Sweet with sweet, bitter with bitter.
Go with any lighter-bodied beer and you'll be fine.
Depending on what type of fish and how you are preparing it, if it's pretty flavorful you can easily step up to a pale ale and be very happy.

My favorite with any breaded fish is probably Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.

Bud Light!

I always go fishin and drink Bud Light. It's my favorite thing to do. We cook the fish over our little camp fire everytime and Bud Light has the best damn taste to wash that fish down.
