Put your CD in. Then the autorun will appear and you just need to follow the directions on the screen periodically pushing (next) to get to the next screen and finishing setup. Once it asks for you to restart the computer you may have to delete your partition(s). To do this, you need to select the partition(s) you need to delete and press (d) and then (L). It will say "all data will be lost". After that, press enter to setup your Windows XP in that particular partition. Once that is done, the screen will take you to the format screen and you will have to wait until formatting is finished. Once done, setup will continue. Just follow the directions and you will be finished.

I assume you are using Windows OS other than XP.

First backup all the important files on CD-R or DVD or other means but the HD you want a clean install!
Then, create a bootdisk from the OS. After that restart the PC with the bootdisk and under command prompt type format c: and insert the XP cd. Find a directory called i386 and a file called winnt.exe if not mistaken. Run the file to start a clean install. It is recommended to ensure the location of the file before you proceed to install.

Good luck...

just follow the setup procedure.
Select the new installation when prompted.
Select the same partion were the provious XP is.

You will be prompted to change the drive or overwrite the present OS. OR you can delete the partion and create the new one, so the entire data and OS files will be lost.

since if you want a fresh start (meaning everything on your c drive you do not need), just pop the win xp cd into the cdrom and boot your pc using it. When the pc rebooted, goes into winxp set up and choose to reformat the c drive for fresh set up.

If you want to start from scratch format the hard drive. Otherwise if you have an older version of windows you can choose the upgrade path.

i assume you have an upgrade disk. during install you are asked if you wish a "clean install". this also occurs with full install disk. also you are asked if you want to retain your dos fat-32 system or you want NTFS always choose NTFS.
