Will you throw away the American constitution since it forbids murder, but allows for the death penalty?

You're taking 'thou shalt not kill' waaay out of proportion. Try not taking everything in the literality of its translation and looking at the intent behind it. Obviously, the taking of a life can't be what the Bible says is a sin; there are many situations where, because another person is ignoring your right to life, you are correct in taking theirs in self defence. Therefore, it must be the REASON behind taking a life. Not killing our sons and/or daughters for talking back is only hypocritical of the Bible when you ignore the New Testament. The Bible maintains that before Jesus died, there was no intercession between us and our sins, so any kind of forgiveness of sins was, simply put, extra padding. It was a gift, not a right. After Jesus came, nobody had the right to punish somebody based purely off of moral reasons because we were now given the rest of our lives to gain salvation before our sin could catch up to us.

The text in the Decalogue says that you shouldn't *murder,* not that you shouldn't *kill.* (Get a few good contemporary translations -- the New Jerusalem and the Revised English Bible are my personal favorites). So the contradictions you're imagining don't exist...
The *real* contradiction is between the benighted, barbaric notions about God expressed liberally in the sacred writings of the world, and the occasional gleams of truth that shine through. Just because there's a good deal of falsehood in the Hebrew and Christian scriptures doesn't mean that there's not also a good deal of truth. Just use your own head and heart in making the distinction.

There is a difference between killing another in violence and having it be done as a means of punishment but the ruling body of law. I understand what you are saying but it is a not a very intelligent argument. Like the gentlemen above said would you throw out the constitution?

NO!
The bible says no such thing. After the ten commandments are listed, it gives a list of punishments. These punishments are to be handed out by GOD, if and when HE sees fit.
Any mortal choosing to deliberately take His words out of context toward his own ends has no right to call himself a christian, or a jew or a muslim or whatever other religion they may be.
I know that this sort of thing happens all the time, the major reason I affiliate myself with no religion. But the people who do thins are wrong, and (assuming hevean and hell exist) will find themselves sitting in hell for an eternity.

We are suppose to live by the 10 commandments. One of which is thou shall not kill. The new testament clarifies many of the mistakes that people made with the old ideas in the old testament. When you pull scriptures you are pulling pieces out of context and it easy to get confused.

Actually, if you want to trash the Bible, do some research first. Have you read the New Testament at all, or are you just dyslexic? Jesus Christ came and erased the need to follow the law by what He did on the cross. If you don't understand something, don't trash it. Maybe you could go to some English classes while you're at it.

Yeah, that was me who posted it. I know the bible has a million and one contradictions, but I was just questioning it as in regards to the war we have going on right now, how does a soldier justify killing another innocent person? Because they're not over there killing the ones who took down the towers, they're killing others, and innocents in their path. The soldier recently charged with rape comes to mind, too.

You do not understand the Bible. Please read the King James version of the Holy Bible and ask the Holy Ghost to reveal the Truth to you. God, in the ten commandments said though shalt not kill. the word Kill is actually meaning Murder. God also said, as you state in your narrative, to kill those who sin against God and His Laws, commandments, and statutes.

First of all, you're probably taking the verses out of context. If you read the Bible carefully, you will find that there are no contradictions.
For those who are truly seeking the truth, it will be revealed to them. But people like you who try to discredit God's word, the truth will be hidden.

So, what you are saying, essentially, is that the instructions don't sound right to you. However there are thousands of people every day with the same set of instructions, living their lives accordingly, but they are wrong? How can that be??
Maybe you had better re-write the Bible so our poor wayward souls can be enlightened.
