breastfeeding is a common reason why women do not get their period postpartum. It happen to me. Do not worry it will not stop your chances of having another child. Once she starts to wean the baby from her breast, is when her period should start.
I would not suggest having another child (if you want to try) until this one is at least 18 months old. This gives your wife's body a chance to replenish itself and heal properly. This will make your next one healthier also.
congratulations.

Is she exclusively breastfeeding? That is considered really good birth control (as good as condoms) for the first 6 mos PP.
If the baby still nurses a lot, her period may stay away for a long time! Some women don't have a period the whole time they are breastfeeding. Others do get their periods back after a few weeks/months.
After my first was born, it took 10 mos before I had a period. After my second, it was about 9.5 months. After my third was born, I didn't have a period for about another year and a half! Know that you can get pregnant while still breastfeeding...both #2 and #3 were conceived while I was still nursing their older siblings.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!
errrmmm i hope your sure she's not pregnant lol.
I breast fed up till february and had a coil fitted before i stopped which i was told is why my periods didnt start.
In the mean time i used condom, only one of them split so i used the morrning after pill. a few weeks ago i found out i was 24 weeks pregnant. meaning the morrning after pill failed and the coil was fitted at 5 weeks. So if i were you i would check to make sure she isnt having all the signs of pregnancy aswell but my little boy was born in july 2005 and i didnt have a period while breast feeding.
So it will probably get back to normal when she stops breast feeding but dont forget to keep an eye on the pregnancy signs as breast feeding is not a form of contriception.

She ought to nevertheless be pregnant -- to really rule that out you want to get a blood attempt executed by employing a clinical professional. each and each and every of the OTC ones do is search for a particular hormone (ignore which one) that a lady produces even as she's pregnant. If the hormone is detected it says you're pregnant, if no longer it would not. yet that is no longer continually precise reason some women ought to have a actual low hormone aspect and in uncommon situations produce none... for this reason going to get a blood attempt... She also ought to have a hormone imbalance. There are 3 hormones a lady needs a stability of to authentic ovulate (and characteristic a era). If this sort of is out of wack or lower than generating she ought to have a neglected era. also, once you hit your 30s (and older) that's common to have a neglected era... Now if she misses more suitable than 2 in a row she might want to be sure a clinical professional reason they're must be something incorrect no longer purely hormonal -- may be an indication of early menopause, must be entrimetriosis (forgive the spelling i could not remember the thanks to spell it), must be ovarian cysts, must be cancer, can be a collection of issues. She needs an exam to be sure precisely what. desire I helped...

Breastfeeding can delay the coming of a period. I also had a baby in January, and I still haven't had a period. It's normal. Now that my baby is breastfeeding less often and eating other foods sometimes, I'm sure it will start up again. Tell her just to enjoy not having to worry about it. I sure have.

It is very common for women who breast feed to not have periods. This is the bodies way of protecting against pregnancies too close together. Make sure she is getting enough protein in her diet, she is burning about 1 1/2 time more than you are now and protein deficet will be very bad for her health later in life.

It can take a while sometimes. When I had my son, it took a good 2 or 3 months before I had a period again. With my daughter, the periods came like clockwork 28-days later which was reeeeeeeally unusual for me.
If there's that much concern, perhaps y'all should contact her OBGYN. :)

It takes couple of month for women to resume periods after pregnancy speacially those who breastfeed.
I resumed my periods 10 months after delivery. I too was breastfeeding my son. My son is 20 months old now.

I've had friends who didn't get their periods until they stopped breast feeding. I'm not that lucky, but it does happen pretty often. Don't stress over it, it's pretty normal.

The reason is 'cos she is breastfeeding. It is a form of natural contraception. Nothing to worry! Once she stops breastfeeding fully, or does only in the night, she is bound to get her periods.
