I went their before tsunami in few months, the best place ive ever been.
I stayed for 15 day in phucket at the merline beach resort best hotel u can find, free transportation from to patonge beach where u can find the best restaurant and night clubs check banana club, so if u stayed in any other beach u should come every day to patonge, so save the transportation money and stay there, don’t buy any thing even if u got a great bargain and anyone can they love to bargain but keep in mind this is a tourist beach so everything is open for bargain even the tuktuk “taxi “they call it tuktuk,
In Bangkok the city is ….not clean smells but its really lovely there u can use the hotel offered (free transportation to get the shopping area) cant remember how much to use a cap maybe around 100-150 bt ,but also u can bargain or u can use the tuktuk
U can get internet access from the hotel any time , and u can get from one city to the other using the sub way max 10-15 min u can get any where u want cheaper and faster .and here u can buy ur stuff in low-prices and more variety , also u can go to Monday market using the sub way.
Any way when u get there take every brochure u get ur hand on , but really the best place to stay is phucket island there u can go many trips as u can, go to fantasia show oh my god the best love it.
don’t don’t don’t go to the zoo the worst place ever worst trip, phi phi island is not what u expect but its nice the island trip is great and the safari is also nice if u love animals but don’t forget to take ur mosquitoes spray with u. any way when u arrive there wait like for 1 day to get to know the people and what is the best deals for u.

ENJOY ur trip best place ever, every one smiles at u and try to help u nice people, Aaaah forgot to tell u try not to mess women and men their so many sex change. If u want to take a picture with them u have to pay …bargain

That's a lot of questions!

I lived north of Phuket for 3 months after the tsunami.

The bus system is cheap and very available. You can get anywhere for about $20-50US. However you can fly anywhere on AirAsia for that price too. lol Go to http://www.airasia.com if you need a flight. Busses are frightening sometimes as they rarely slow down, but they have a good system. Bus between Phuket and Bangkok is about 12-14 hours. I never rode a train.

Internet Access is easy. There are 10x as many internet cafes in Asia as the rest of the world. Its dirt cheap. Most places have at least one laptop hookup available if you have your own with you.

I hope you like bugs. Insects are huge. They have a ton of different snakes. You see them often outisde and they are beautiful to look at, but not so much to randomly encounter.

If you need a hotel, go to www.asiarooms.com
It's an easy place to get room information.

NEVER EVER spend money on a massage at your hotel (if you get one). It is always cheaper from a local business. Make sure they have windows (so you know its not the 'other' kind of place) and don't pay more than 300 baht for an hour.

Suggestions in the south... Phuket/Krabi is certainly the SE Asia tourist hub. Beautiful islands and mountains. You have to stop at Phi Phi island for sure. Go kayaking through the mangrove forests.

Want to get away from tourists though? Go to Khao Lak. It's an hour north of Phuket. The main highway goes right through it. That will soon be a hot spot for sure. You can walk on perfect beaches for miles and not see anyone. There are a few great resorts too. Check our the Meridien. It's ten minutes north of Khao Lak.

Be sure to go out to the Similan Islands for snorkeling and relaxation. That is #1 on my list of most beautiful places I've ever seen.

Alternative form of travel. Drive yourself! It's easy to rent a car from an airport and all you need is an international driver's license. Get that from a AAA business for $15US.

Thailand has a lot of attractions; beaches, moutain or city like bangkok. If that trip's first time for you, I suggest you to travel in Bangkok for 3-4 days and then go visit the Southern of Thailand.

In Bangkok, you can enjoy major attractions; cultural like temples, palaces and National museum, shopping places like Siam Square, Chatuchak Weekend Market, Suan Lum Night Barzaar and MBK Center. You can also enjoy the nightlife in Bangkok.
About hotels in Bangkok, the popular places are Silom Rd., Sukhumvit Rd. and Khao San Rd. (If you like to stay at the budget hotel, I suggest you to stay at Khao San Rd. - it's like a foreigner place).
Transportation in Bangkok, it's too easy. You can take a BTS sky train, MRT subway in city center and bus, boat, taxi and Tuk Tuk (it's favour one that you should try once) are available.
When you want to use Internet, you can use in coffee shops like Starbucks Coffee and True Coffe Shop - they provide Wireless for their customers.

And other places in Thailand I recommend you to go to Phuket, it's 1 of province in Southern of Thailand. You can enjoy water sport activities, beaches and seafoods there. Also the hotels in Phuket are so beautiful and most of them are beachfront like in Patong Beach, Karon Beach and Kata Beach.

From Bangkok to Phuket you can go there by bus and plane. If you go there by plane, it take you around 1 hour but by bus around 12-14 hours.

The emergency phone number called to police are 191.

Hope you enjoy holiday in Thailand like your plan!

You should invest in a Lonely Planet, Let's Go, or other guide books. They have all this info and more. BTW, I am Thai and Thailand has all the modern convenieces of the US, internet, buses, subway, etc. esp in Bangkok. And it has all the vices, too.
