I have one on the left side on my handlebar, should I get one for the right side too? And...I listen to my I-pod when I ride in traffic, is that ok?

gosh yes, get 2 mirrors. motorcycles and cars have two, your body creates a blind spot otherwise.
don't turn the ipod up too far, or you may miss a lifesaving sound. focus on your surroundings instead of the ipod. you should be aware of all around you as bikes present a problem to vehicles - they are not clearly visible, and the biker at times swerves out into traffic.
also - this is really important - get large lights for your bike - a flashing red one hanging in the rear and a white steady one in front. that is the worst thing a cyclist can do - have no lights on the bike. the rear one should be visible from the sides as well as the main surface so that no matter which way a car is coming from it sees you better.
best wishes!

The I-pod is the problem. If you mount a mirror at all you really only need it on the left side since you should be riding on the right side of the road. Use your left ear, in addition to your mirror to notice traffic coming from behind you. Learn to look over your shoulder without changing your line. You need to look out for the cagers, they certainly aren't looking out for you.

bike safety?
get as many mirrors as you want, but don't spend so much time worrying about what is behind you that you smack into the parked car in front of you.
and ditch the ipod. you need all of your senses to keep you safe when riding in traffic.

You should get two mirrors. It's really dangerous to listen to your ipod when riding in the traffic. We may ride safely and take all the precautions, but other motorist and drivers may not.

Two mirrors are better than one, It gives you an angle from both sides, However, while listening to your Ipod you cannot hear a car screetching its brakes until its too late.
