Assuming you arrive to Charles de Gaulle:
30 minutes to go through the customs
about an hour to get to Paris by RER, line B (the train itself takes about 35 minutes, but you have to get to the RER train station by walking from CDG-2 (you can take a shuttle too) or taking a shuttle (navette) from CDG-1.
From Line B you have to change to line C and get to Bir Hoakim station, or something like that - another 15 minutes.
Trip back - another hour and 15 minutes.
You have to be at the airport about an hour before the departure (although you are already checked in, you still have to pass through security).
It gives you about 2-3 hours of free time - enjoy Paris!

Do you have a lay over?
6 Hours should be enough time depending on what airport you fly into. You can take the RER from both airports to the Tower, and prolly have time to walk to La Seine. If worst comes to worst, you can always cab it back to the airport.
I would probably just goto the tower, take the elevator up, experience it then head back to the airport.

You'd end up with high cab bill, at least from Charles, because the air ports at least a half hour outside town. It would be worth it. You would only have an hour and the French airport people will scold you if you're not there 3 hours before your flight.
