My budgie got her toe caught on something, and there was blood all over her cage. Her toe is no longer bleeding, but how do I keep it from getting infected? Will she chew on it? Should i take her to a vet?

If she is walking on it normally and perching fine, she will be fine. just keep an eye on it for redness and swelling. If this starts, get her to a vet for anti biotic ts.

I would keep a good eye on it. I wouldn't use anything than saline solution. It's better than alcohol and peroxide. Just fill a small eyedropper or bottle and spray the bird's foot with it. If she shows signs of infection or can't use the foot/toe, then I'd cart her off to a vet.

You can make your own saline solution by using one cup warm water, a pinch of salt and a pinch of baking soda. Then stir/shake. It keeps a long time, especially if you keep it in the fridge :-)

Great thing to do is first put hydrogen peroxide on it. It helps a lot, it clears up the infection and the germs, just as it helps us humans. After that you can try putting vaseline on it which also helps. BUT don't forget the hydrogen peroxide. It'll feel better in a few days, about 2 to 3.

If your bird is engagng in normal activities

prening, eating, playing with toys

Your bird should be fine

If your bird is constantly picking at it you should see your avian veterinarian for advice, on what to do.

you can email me for more questions at fatwhale90@yahoo.com

I hope your budgie feels better

Best of Luck Joe

let it heel on its own if he is walking fine and not seeming in pain. but they are so small and and delicate that if it is worse, bring it to or call avlocal vet.

You can use that bandaid second skin stuff you paint on there. That will make it smooth so she doesn't pick. Make sure its clean before you do that.
