Pineapple contains a proteolytic enzyme bromelain, which digests food by breaking down protein. Pineapple juice can thus be used as a marinade and tenderizer for meat. The enzymes in pineapples can interfere with the preparation of some foods, such as jelly or other gelatin-based desserts.

It is very acidic. Try Soaking it in salt water for 30 minutes before eating it (only Fresh Pinapple not tinned) and rinsing it off in some fresh water and you'll have all the taste but no burn. It works and is done before canning by most companies. Try It.
