No, but get a book called "I am that" by Nisargadatta. At the root of all your woes is simply not knowing what you are. Meditating is helpful, but more like trimming the tree. Sounds like you are in a hurry so this will help you go for the root.

The most important tip that I could give you about meditation is that although it is helpful for almost any kind of pain, it is important that you do not try to make thoughts or feelings go away during meditation. The whole point is to put down your burdens for a while and stop trying to change yourself or the world. If you can do this then you may still feel deep sadness and anxiety, but because you have less aversion and resistance toward these feelings, they cause you less suffering and will in time (possibly what will seem like a long time) pass.

If the depression is really bad don't be too proud to try an anti-depressive as they do work.

Cognitive behavioral therapy, is also good, some of the ideas from this school of therapy are explained in a book called "how to want what you have" though I think it has sadly gone out of print. It may however still be available secondhand through amazon.

See a reputable chiropractor. You might be surprised at how many ailments are caused by or aggravated by subluxations of the spine. Every nerve from your neck down passes through your vertebrae. These nerves are very sensitive to pressure and it blocks signals to AND from your body and brain.

This sounds really hokey, but I swear, I've seen first-hand what it can do. It's kept my Dad off the surgeon's table, and out of a wheelchair.

For your depression and mood swings, start living a more balanced lifestyle, including healthier diet, lots of water, adequate sleep, regular exercise, and stress management (ie: TAKE your vacation days and USE them!). You don't need to take a class to learn to meditate. Try this: go to a quiet place outdoors, like a park or wooded area away from people. Sit there and just be still. Listen to the things all around you, and let yourself feel just how small you are, and how insignificant your problems are in the face of such magnificence and mystery as nature. Or go to a mall food court and sit and stare into your cup of coffee. Pretend that the cup of coffee is the center of the universe, and that it is the only thing that is still. You are still, too, as you hold on to it. Listen to life buzzing around you, and marvel at the silliness of people...arrogantly thinking they're so important. Once you feel this stillness, you'll know where to find it again. Revisit it often.

Brahma Kumaris is the best meditation centre I have ever been in. Great teachers there. They also have very interesting seminars. Just don't forget that once they give you the basics it is then an ongoing personal process. I am sure you will enjoy it.

Depression is a state of illusion not a condition. It has a lot to do with negative self talk, body language and breathing patterns. If you hunch your shoulders, hold your breathe and think depressing thoughts chances are you will become depressed.
Try walking around with your head up, shoulders relaxed and breathing evenly (breathing through your nose and exhaling through your mouth). Also attempt to speak positively in your mind and think happy thoughts.

go along to your local budhist centre there will show you the best way to meditate for your problem.calm music can help you also and your local libaray will have books on the subject.also the web has information on the subject.good luck.
