Your so right in your analogy....My husband and I had an encounter a few years ago when we bought our first house, our yard was quite large, about an acre, and we had built a nice play area for our children and also put our trampoline at ground level (under ground). One day when we came home a few kids were playing in our yard. I had them take me to their home to talk to their parents......the parents response helps sum up a bit of the lack of manners we seem to be encountering........the parents told me it was our fault for having put such a nice play area in for our children and not having a fence...if we wanted kids not to use the equipment she should put up a large fence..........WHAT !!!
So, it was OUR fault.....not that the kids should respect others property and actually ASK before playing there.
During the winter I again came home to a large group of kids and adults sledding in our yard......when I confronted the adults their response.......your going to love this........"we saw all the kids playing here and "thought" it was o.k. ".....Hello.....Manners ? Asking ? I have decided the only manners I can be responsible for are mine and my families.......My husband and I have 7 children and manners and respect are a vital part of our family........too bad that is not true for all of us..........

Because people are far more stressed these days than what they were say 50 years ago. There were no IT jobs etc and people worked to pay their bills and feed their family. These days too many people want more sometimes more than what they can accomplish... All of this makes people aggressive and manners are thrown out of the window.

Some people tend to be intolerant of others. Children are not being taught respect. Children and adults alike don't learn the positive aspects of being polite to others - the good treatment and kindness you tend to get from others as a result. Many people behave in such a way that is not respectable and so it's impossible to treat them with respect. These behaviors are glorified on TV and people copy it without ever seeing a better way.

People are stressed, rushed, and tired. They are getting too little for the time they spend and feeling too pressured. They spend too much time away from their children to teach them proper manners. Manners are not taught in most schools. Young people watch programs and listen to music that encourage disrespect. They watch sports stars, singers, idols and their classmates be disrespectful and copy the behavior.

I totally agree.... I think that many more people now these days are more stressed out within the society than ever before. This is I think where rudeness comes from. Of course let's not forget it's also how parents bring up their children.

If it bothers you just think it is their problem and it's not your fault.

No worries there are still alot of good people out there.

Its called selfishness. Showing good manners is the international human code of showing respect for yourself and for others. Its another way of putting the Golden Rule: treat others as you would like to be treated!
