Do you have any quick fix remedy? I am so anxious about my raise and new position that when I lay down in Bed I can't stop thinking about it. Its 1:36 am and I really need to get some rest.

I took some cough syrup w/ codiene but I'm not feeling sleepy at all.

I usually just keep repeating "go to sleep" over and over. My mind tends to wander like crazy as soon as I lay down, so that helps me not think as much. After a couple minutes, my brain just gets tired of hearing it and I fall asleep...

If that doesn't work, try rubbing the bottom of your big toe really lightly. I read in some article that that can make you so calm you want to fall asleep. I tried it once and it actually worked (bet you didn't hear that one before!)...

You can also try some warm chamomile tea (sp?) or regular tea with lemon (decaf of course)... Or some people say warm milk helps, doesn't work for me personally, but you can give it a try if you like milk. Even some sugar-free hot cocoa can work...

Find a really stupid book and start reading at a random page, that might bore you to sleep...

Stare at the ceiling and concentrate on breathing really deeply then exhaling really slowly. Really try not to let your mind wander. Just let yourself relax...

You can try taking some Benadryl or other sleep aid depending on what time you need to get up. You should give it at least 8 or 9 hours to wear off... Only don't take it tonight since you already took the cough syrup with codiene, but it might work for you in the future...

I can't think of anything else right now, I can't sleep either (I'm on Prednisone for my poison ivy, and it's a steroid, so it keeps me wired like I just ate a whole coffee plant for at least 18 hours lol!)...

Good luck though! And congratulations on your raise and new position!!!!!!!!!

Cammomile tea. If you do not have this then a glass of milk with a little sugar in it. Then, lie down and concentrate on slow breathing in and out.
Otherwise, some relaxing music.

Warm milk or herbal tea and try to read a book or a warm soak in the tub. Good luck and sweet dreams.

Write down what you are anxious about on a piece of paper. Then you may be able to forget about it and go to sleep.

Take a warm bath...or if you have Tylenol pm it works great but you have to be able to sleep for 8 hours when you take it.

If you really pay attention to your breathing pattern. And make sure you take nice deep breaths in and out it should really help.
