First of all, you do have a soul. All human beings have a soul.
If you have ever sought professional help for this, I hope that you were told that the reason that you believe and feel the way you do is because you have the disease, "Major Depression". This disease has caused some of the chemicals in your brain to be low. These chemicals being low is the reason you feel and think these things.
If you had the disease, " Diabetes", no one would tell you, "Just
think positive thoughts and the disease will go away. There's no need for you to be on a special diet or take medicine." If the part of your body that produces insulin, which is needed for sugar metablization, isn't producing enough insulin, you need some medication that causes your body to increase insulin production or you need to replace the insulin.
It stands to reason that if the part of your brain that produces serotonin and/or epinephrine, which you need to think properly and have normal emotions, doesn't produce enough of that; your mind won't work properly either. Thank God there are medications that help with Major Depression! If you haven't tried these medications yet or have not found the right ones yet, don't give up hope! It took my doctor and I some time to find the ones that are the most helpful for me.
You say you have tried to be someone else and failed at that. That you don't believe you even have the capacity to be yourself anymore. We can always be ourselves. It's literally the easiest thing to be and something that if we try, we cannot fail at. Part of the problem is that we are afraid to tell someone,
"No", and that if we do that the other person won't like us. We judge ourselves by the worlds standards and we compare ourselves to others and are afraid we don't measure up. One of the problems with comparing ourselves with others is that we can always look and see someone in the world that has gone farther than us in some area.
I used to work in a hospital with a brilliant psychiatrist. He was not only brilliant, but he was a wonderful man. He chose to work with poor patients that had difficult problems. He would fight the administration in order that his patients got good care and he never gave up on his patients. I can not tell you how much I respected and admired him. Yet, he talked to me one day and said that he hadn't accomplished much because other people that had been in his class had gone much farther" than him. One had won a Nobel Prize, several had become millionares while he was relatively poor. No one is immune from this human tendency to compare ourselves with others.
What we have to do to be ourselves is to let go of comparing ourselves with others, of pretending we like things we don't like, of doing things we believe are wrong, and of pretending to be someone else.
If we don't pretend, some people may not like or love us, in fact I can guaranty they won't. But if we are ourselves, then we are free to meet those people that like us for ourselves. I don't know if somewhere, at sometime, some one turned you off to God. But I would encourage you to give God a second chance. The other thing I would encourage you to do is read the New Testament in the Bible. I say that because we need to get to know God in order to have realistic expectations of Him. Again I say read The New Testament, because I have almost never heard a priest tell the truth about God and I have never heard a protestant minister tell the truth about God. I am so sad to have to say that but I have to because that is the sad truth of the way the world is today.
You need to know about God because only He loves you and accepts you the way we all need to be loved and accepted. Only His standards count for anything and only He has enough wisdom and power to guaranty that if we accept His love and follow His standards that we will be happy with Him in His Kingdom of Heaven for all Eternity.

Go get a book called "I am that" buy nisargadatta. And look into advaita vedanta. It is a philosophy that can lead you to understanding and becoming enlightenment. You already are it, but this life is about finding that out. The journey. Don't give up until you know and then are. We are all nothing. Truly. But that is an amazing place to be in because then there are no rules, anything is possible, there is no death and no one home to care. Doesn't mean life is not enjoyable...on the contrary. It is amazing! It just isn't enjoyable or amazing to anyone specifically. I just am. You just are. Being is the joy. How do you know anyone was born with soul? Go beyond the mind. There is much more waiting there. You were given that feeling of having no soul so you would search for answers. What are you waiting for? A guru to appear? Who says I am not yours?

You do have a soul, but it sounds like you are in a dark place right now. You really need some counseling. I see you are talking soul, so you must believe in God. Maybe you should see your priest or minister or what ever religion you believe in. Try and find the good things about yourself. Good luck.

We all have a soul. Your's is somewhere - you need to learn to love yourself and you will find it. Don't envy other people's accomplishments - make your own instead. Get out and about and take every day one step at a time and you'll find tha tyou get through things a lot easier. When you love yourself, others will love you as well. My thoughts are with you.

I feel the same way. Words like "nothing" and "void" define much of my life; the greatest hope I have is that life hasn't always been this, and won't always be this. It never is.

You have to live your own life. Don't be jealous of other peoples accomplishments. You have to set your own goals, follow your own interests (No matter what other people say.). People will be drawn to you and respect you more when you accomplished your own achievements.
