Patriotism is a good virtue, but follow humanity if there is a conflict with patriotism.

All the best!

Well, first you asked for Marines and their families. I qualify for this twice. First my husband is a US Marine and second my brother is a Marine that was killed in Iraq four months ago. I think that this war's meaning is very clear. It is a fight to keep the terrorists from attacking us at home again. Think of it like a ball game. You have away games and you have home games. This one, Thank God, is an away game. Because if we didn't take this "game" to them then they will bring it to us. I am glad that we don't have to worry about our family's driving home from school or church or whatever one day and get hit by a road side bomb! I think that my husband is fighting to protect this country and the American people and I believe that my brother died for that wonderful worthy cause. He believed so too by the way. He also thought that the Iraq people where worth fighting for too. Now as for whether you should join or not......that is really completely up to you. I believe that you want to because you wouldn't have asked this question if down deep you knew what you really wanted. All I can say is that if you feel like you should and you feel that it is a worthy cause then you should join. It would be something very hard for you to deal with personally when you get older if you felt like you should have and didn't. But be prepared for a very ruff time. Not only is boot camp harder then you can even imagine and then the war too. You also have to deal with seeing and hearing the mixed feelings about what you will be doing. You better get a tuff chin because it will be hit quite a few times. But if you believe in what you are doing then you will be able to take it. I encourage you to do what you feel is right. Don't let any one push their feelings on you about this. It is your life and your believes.

YOU WANT TO JOIN! If you didn't you wouldn't ask this question. You are afraid of what friends and family will think of you, if you do join. So here are your Options:

You can spend the rest of your life, succombing to peer pressure, so others won't think poorly of you, or

You can be your own man and do, what you know is right for you, and your country which is in a fight for its existance. This is no joke, or

Buy the Quran, learn Arabic( to read it), grow a beard, make your mother and sister dress in Burka's and kill whichever one dishonors the family.

Still think the Islamic way of life is a good one?
