Nobody, and I mean nobody, follows even basic things of christianity anymore, such as staying pure from sex before marriage, adultery, pornography, etc. If it's not one thing, it's another. It's not wonder christian divorce rates mirror secular divorce rates. Everybody pretends to be pious but is a hypocrite. I want to live my life pure, but nobody else seems to, and if they do, they're not anywhere around here. Why should I believe anymore? Give it your best shot. This isn't just ranting, I seriously want to hear your answers.

I don't pretend I'm perfect by any means. Note that I say "want to be", not "am". I just wonder what the point of even trying is anymore...

Why sit around worrying about everyone else? Christians and those that say they are and only play the part have their struggles like anyone. If living a pious life is the way to heaven no man will make it most real Christians believe in grace but don't abuse it. Those that do are heading down a bad road. Christ and His sacrifice is not to be taken lightly nor forgotten. That is why the Lord's supper is important each week in the Church of Christ and Christian Church they remember Christ's sacrifice and its a time one must examine themselves before the Lord. Most denominational so called churches have stopped the Lord's supper and many other true Christian ordinaces so maybe those you see doing as they will have fell into the false churches and under false doctrines made by men.Hope this helps stay strong and keep that bible open with a keen eye good luck and God bless man.

Yea, I hear you. Maybe because you are trying to please God and not men? It doesn't matter what other people think, now does it? We will ALL stand alone before Christ and give an account of every careless word that we have ever stated (Mat. 12:36; Romans 2:16 & 14:10-12; 1 Cor. 3:14; Colos. 3:24).
I don't know if this answers your question or not, but one of the main reasons that I believe in Christianity is that the people who knew Jesus were willing to be tortured to death rather than change their story that they saw Jesus return from the dead.
If the apostles were lying about seeing the resurrected Christ, then why didn't they take back their story when they were individually being tortured to death? Every one of the apostles (Except John, who died a natural death in exile on Patmos), were killed for their faith. Wouldn't a liar recant this story to save his own life?
What did the apostles have to gain by making it all up? What good does fame do for a dead person?
I accept the apostles' story because the witnesses were creditable.
PS: John said that if any of us claim to be without sin, then we deceive ourselves. And Paul confessed in Romans chapters 7 & 8 to struggle with sin. It is the effort that counts, not the performance. That is why Christ died -- to justify not the good, but the ungodly.

You cant say that abomut everybody, because I do follow even the basic things of being a Christian. You are not responsible for anyone's salvation but your own. You can do your utmost best to lead someone to Jesus, but it's up to the holy spirit who convicts their souls But the bottom line is that you did your part if you witnessed to a lost person.
You can also allow Jesus to shine through you in the way you carry yourself. How you speak, act, treat others. Did you know that someone can tell you are a Christian just by the way you smile? Your best weapon against the sin in this world today is prayer. God tells us this...
1 Thessalonians 5:17 Pray without ceasing.
Galatians 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
Work on you and the rest of the world will see Jesus shining through you. If they see you handle the worst situations with grace, patients, and feness, the people around you will want to know how you do that, which gives you to opportunity to witness to them about how Jesus handles all your life and situations.
Life and how we live it is our ministry in the name of God. We have to be the lighted way for the lost and back slid. Do not become one of God's disciples that have back slid just because you think you fighting a loosing battle. If you do that then satan wins.
Ready or not, and I can assure you that most of this world is NOT ready, Jesus is coming in our lifetime. All God expects from us is that we do our best to share His word with others, and don't let satan steel your joy.
God bless you

I try to follow as much of God's word as possible but it is hard in a world filled with sin. We are all imperfect and as such we are weak against temptations. I really feel bad for you b/c I know I felt the same for a long while. But please know that there are people who want to follow God commandment but the bible states that now is the time of the end you can read about this in your own bible at 2 Timothy 3:1-5. And please don't be stumbled by the shortcomings of those around you we all try our hardest but as imperfect beings we all fall short from the glory of god even you ;) . (Romans 3:21)

You seem to have lost your faith, or at least questioning it. While other people do fall from God, you must remember the path of the faithful is beset on all sides by the inequities of those who would do him harm. It's up to us to stay the course regardless of what wrongs we see.
Be the example. Be the change you wish to see in the world. Ghandi said that. It's not enough to just SAY it's wrong, but show the world that you can live with certain things, and without others.
Never judge others for what they have done wrong, rather show them compassion free of judement, be kind at all times, and they will see how great it is...

Ok..first you are NOT the only person who wants to live a life for the lord.and that has values..secondly people have never been sin free ...even in the days of Jesus..people slipped up..sinned..picked themselves back up with God grace and forgivness and kept on keeping on..
It is discourging that we as a nation are very much failing to walk the TALK>.one of the things that I have learned with age is that all those people who I thought were so perfect..were not..and ..as some of the other answers have indicated..our walk is with Jesus and our relationship to him..not to others.
I will share with you an awesome thing the lord allowed me to see so very clearly...this world is just a pass through...a training ground to be more like Jesus...eternity is FOREVER...this world is not...my dear friend...set your eyes upon Jesus not people..people will always let you down..he will NOT..
So why should you believe anymore? Because we are commaned to..and like one of the men in the bible says..Lord I believe..help my unbelief!!
Since the begining of time..man has had to make a decision to believe...to stop the negative thoughts that the world and the enemy puts in our minds...even if you have to admit to the lord that you are struggling..he understands..he cares that you are discouraged.. Hang tight ..hold on.. and just believe ..believe and be greatful...
Take your thoughts captive to the mind of Christ...he will give you peace.

I believe that we are living in such a time, that we do not have many examples of what a strong believer in Christ is. Paul, in the bible said look at me and follow my example. Where are the examples today? We just have to be determined in our own hearts that we are going to live Holy and Pure before God. We have to look up to God and Jesus as our examples and never get our eyes on man and how they do life... God is wanting us to abide in Him and He will abide with us. The fellowship that He desires with us is so important and how we live our life out, will determine how close we will be to Him. Draw near to Him and He will draw near to YOU.......... Get your eyes off of man and look solely to the Lord. He is the only way..... I am so thankful that I serve a Pure and Holy God and my job is to not look around and pinpoint the wrong in my fellow believers, but to pray for them . My job as I said, is to be the best servant of Christ I can be and serve Him in the best way possible. I do not know about you, but I want to hear from Jesus, "well done My good and faithful servant." Blessings. Keep Your Eyes on Him..........

My brother, I'm sorry you believe that nobody walks in obedience to Jesus' teaching. Remember, nobody but Him has ever been perfect, so it isn't just something new. May I suggest that if everyone around you is so dead in sin, and you are the only one who really hungers and thirsts for righteousness, then it's all the more important for you to remain faithful to the Lord? If we are all falling away, then how much more must you hold fast to the truth? Please pray for those of us who want to follow Jesus, but are troubled by sin and hypocrisy. God bless you!
