I think it has more to do with respect than value. Education in this country definitely has its worth. However, you can't really say that an educated person is of more value than one who isn't.
Someone with experience could have significantly more value to a company or others than someone with a higher education.

But you could say that the educated person is looked at with more respect in certain circumstances, in that they may have a higher understanding and logic than someone without that degree of learning. (I use the term "may" because I know people with high degrees who lack all common sense and logic).

have a great night.

Only those educated in math or science. And Americans seems to respect wealth coupled with modest education more than education alone. In fact, a highly educated person who is not wealthy is considered something of a fool.

Yes, but in the main it can be an abstract appreciation; individually, I am sure most people value educated minds, yet they may seem to be underappreciated when viewed either by, or as, a group.

Educated does not mean SMART. It just means Educated. I respect some educated people and some I know they just memorized something out of a book and have no thoughts of their own.

Considering our leadership, education budget, school drop-out levels, prison building rates, growing impoverishment, the relatively low higher education seekers, the fact that many hardly know what's ever going on the world ever, and the fact that many don't even know how to find their state or city on a map...no.

I always thought our current president had a C average in college. But maybe he has more than book learning going for him.

Some people are self educated.

I guess that depends on what you consider an American. With education comes tollerance. The US is not very tolerant.
