I was sleeping off a bottle of scotch when my roommate busted in the room and said "WAKE UP! REMEMBER THE MOVIE INDEPENDENCE DAY? WELL ITS HAPPENING!!!" So for the first 30 seconds I was awake of september 11th 2001 I thought there might be aliens invading the planet.

I was in the Marine Corps just finished MOS School and was waiting on orders to go on military leave before I went to Okinawa, Japan for a year. My Staff Sergent came into the class room my platoon was waiting in and told us what happened. We were listening to the radio when the other plane hit the Pentagon. The whole base was on lock down and everyone that had plane tickets could now leave. I had a buddy that lived in Arkansas that I road with to his home and then my dad picked me up there. That's where I was when I heard about 9/11.

I got home from work at 7:30 am and turned on the tv to the Today show and the first tower had been hit and I watched as the second one was attacked. It was one of the most heart-sinking things I'd ever seen.

I was in bed, woke up and turned the tv on when they were announcing the crash of the first plane live, over the twin towers. My husband was working at the twin towers in our city so I freaked out and then it was awful they showed on live tv the crash of the second plane, in NY. My stomach hurt so bad, I cried for about 2 hrs. This was at 6 am California time.

I don't think anyone will ever forget where they were that day. I remember it exactly. I was in the tv room at my parents' house with my sister. We wanted to watch a movie and I was just about to slide a tape into the vcr when the picture on the tv caught my eye. I thought, wait a minute, that looks like the NY skyline. At first I thought I was seeing wrong, but then I increased the volume and 10 seconds later I remember yelling "Mom! Come quick, the World Trade Center is burning!". It's one of those things you just don't forget - we sat there, the three of us, mouths wide open in shock, unable to tear our eyes from the unfolding events on the screen.

We just got back from a trip on Monday... we were in bed - woke up to the TV, and phone calls from family... didn't actually get the news until the 2nd tower was hit - I do remember that happening.
I don't think I'll ever get those images out of my mind.

I was at work in a hospital and I seen it on TV. Me and a doctor watched the TV in horror. He was waiting on his son to come home from Egypt. I was almost in disbelief. I prayed and worried all day. That evening when I got off work at 7pm, the gas was about $5.00 per gallon and all the pumps were empty. There was a lot of price gauging going on. I thought sure they weren't finished and would drop a bomb somewhere else.

I work second shift, 3 pm to 11 pm, so I sleep late. I walked downstairs, and two of my brothers were watching television. My oldest brother said "Terrorists crashed two planes into the world trade center....it fell down."
I said "What the f-?" but thought he was joking. Then I looked at the television just as the second one fell. Even as I watched it happen my brain went into that denial mode where you rapidly list alternatives to the reality....and I thought it was a bad taste sci fi movie or something....hoping for anything but the truth.

5th grade in my homeroom class with Mrs. Hobbs teaching. At that point in time, though, I actually didn't even know what the Twin Towers were. That's unimaginable, these days! I remember that day so clearly. My talking bird, Hank, died that day, too. It was crazy.... I figured out what the Towers were soon enough.

I was at school.4Th grade. my friend Steve told me about it. I thought it was i simple plane crash, and i hoped everyone was alright. But then when i got home, i saw it all over the news. I heard the word "terrorist" over and over. I didn't really know what was going on. Until a couple of weeks later, i found out what really happened. I was so scared, i went to my dad to protect me. he told me everything will be allright. for me it was, but all those people in those buildings, it was just the beginning.
