In fairness, even I hope this isn't true

If I knew what it meant, I would have commented other than an apology to begin with. I of course will look at each of your repsonses.

Let me revise a bit. When I saw this, all I could think of is Mendia ripping it to shreds, and I wanted to give her that chance if she could be more objective than the source.

You impressed me with your logic Mendia, I think this time I will learn something when I carefully review it.

Thank You.

Thanks Yars for the fanfare! I am blushing.

So let me get started on debating your article:

"To praise Hispanic “family values” is to imply that the social and moral character of Hispanics is superior to that of other Americans." Why would they think that? Just because people are proud that many hispanics have good family values, what does that have to do with any other group of people?

The article says that there are more blacks and Hispanics with illegitimate children. But it doesn’t say percentage. They are not taking into account that Hispanic people have MORE children.

It says that Hispanics have the most children from ladies age 15-17. I cannot verify if that is correct or not, but I can state that many Mexicans in Mexico tend to marry at a younger age because of a womans belief that sex before marriage is bad and will hurt her reputation. My sister-in-law married at 17, and gave birth at 18. I think the fact that the vast majority (at least in Mexico) are catholic and very religious impacts this.

In short, I think the person making this article was taking the charts from whatever year they found in which made the white race look the best, otherwise why would some state 1996 while others 2003

I have seen these statistics before and I know them to be reputable. However, the context in which the article is written is biased and racist. Hispanics are clearly singled out, even though on all counts their numbers were lower than blacks. And, furthermore, just because a group is statistically more likely than others to do/not do something doesn't mean the whole group is bad. White people are more likely to be serial killers, does that mean alot of them are, no. The article makes it seem like this logic would be correct, when in fact it is erroneous.

Geez, you expect us to believe you when all your information comes from right wing biased propaganda groups?

I am Hispanic woman, I didn't get pregnant before I got married, I went to college, had only one child, he is college. What is your problem with Hispanics. I know I wasn't sleeping around when the rest of my school was at age 16, and this was a predominately white school....

You cant put a group of people in a box. I am not saying it doesn't happen, but it also happens with all groups. What do you gain by bashing a group of people? You know your racism is showing....even though you try so hard to hide it...

You know, Yars, I respect that you are one of two objective users of this category, but I have a problem with information posted from the web, especially the way you present it to a Yahoo user in this case (Mendi, who is married to a hispanic male).

Please check the link below and tell me how much of what is on this link is real:
