I have sole custody of my two small granchildern,I am on disabilty
Why can't they draw a check on me to help out with there needs?
They said I would have to adopt them.Before I could. There parents do not help me at all.

Unfortunately, that is how the system works.
HOWEVER ... you should be eligible for foodstamps for them, as well as some public assistance money, and medicaid for them. Contact local social services. You may have to fight for it, but I have seen people get it. Bring in local political representatives if you have to. Do whatever you can.

Try applying for Public Assistance. They may have you file for child support, but because you have not adopted the children, they should give you cash, food stamps and medical cards for the kids.

I would think that if you could provide receipts to prove that
you are supporting them such as clothing receipts,etc. that
you should be reembursed from the state for your expenses.
You could also file a small claims action against the parents
for the amount of expenses you have spent while they are in
your care.

unfortunately the reason they cant draw a check without legal adoption is because of all the scammers in the world.

Try state assistance so they help you to provide for your grandchildren in CA if your blood relative they would give you cash & foodstamp assistance. If you are not (blood relative)than you have to adopt to get help. You would be exempt and it won't effect your disability checks.

have you tried to apply for medicaid and WIC
