"A Perfect 'Pair'" with green pears as the main decorative theme - is this overdone and/or silly?

It goes well with my colors, which are pink, green and white. Here's my ideas:
-The center pieces will probably be pear-shaped candles or something utilizing that idea
-The wedding favors will either be homemade canned pears or pear honey in a decorative mason jar with a tag adorned with our theme ("A perfect "pair"), our names and the wedding date.
-The wedding cake (which I am making myself because I know how to decorate cakes) will be a squared 3 tier fondant cake in pink, green and white colors, with a sugared "pair" of pears as the cake topper.
-The wedding invitations will be decorated with pears in some way or another.

Bad ideas, or no? And do you have any other ideas?

Sounds good to me except for making your own cake. You don't have time to make a cake the day of your wedding and you don't want stale cake. Real pears would make nice centerpieces. Get a shallow glass bowl, put a tall pillar candle in it and surround with fresh pears, beautiful. You could also scatter some pears and votives in the middle of the table, again beautiful. I think your wedding is going to be lovely, good luck.

Wow, this is a perfect idea and the colors blend well. The cake should have a roundish shape rather than square since pears aren't square. The sugared pair of pears would complement well with two miniature dove figurines placed (as if hovering) on top of the sugared pears. Your choice of colors is perfect. Wishing you the best on your wedding day!

I love your idea. Not corny at all. Actually, I think it's classy.

Idea: Instead of giving jars of preserves, look through the catalogs (the invite catalogs with all the stuff) for pear shaped salt & pepper shakers - I think Jean M carries them.

What a charming idea. I would suggest that you glitter the pears on top of the cake to set them apart from the others. Edible glitter is available at cake decoeating stores.

Lovely idea! The color of pears is fresh and sweet...just like your cake description!

I hope you don't find this annoying, but I saw this listing on eBay for faux pairs from a wedding. http://cgi.ebay.com/80-Pears-Faux-Fruit-The-Perfect-Pair-Vera-Wang_W0QQitemZ190006870910QQihZ009QQcategoryZ36018QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Good way to save money on those centerpieces. And then maybe pass them along to another bride who would love that fresh green pear color at her wedding! Best of luck on your special day.

You know, when you describe it like that it does sound a bit corny. But when I closed my eyes and tried to envision the event and picture all the ideas, it looked lovely! Just don't go too overboard on naming it or pointing out the theme - once will be cute; a dozen times is overkill.

That is way cute! it will look great with pink and white. I would suggest keeping it really simple pattern wise. Mostly solids with pear accents. How cute!

I think it sounds great - there are actually a lot of favors available that follow that theme. Have fun with it - it should be all about the two of you and reflect who you guys are, not about some screwy rules!!
