POOHFRAWG----great attitude "it's your dog, do what you want with it"......A dog, no matter whose it is, is still a sentinent being, capable of feeling pain, you idiot! ....oh my god. If I ahd enough money, I would buy you and shock the hell out of your throat (amongst other things). How's that?

It's an inhumane collar that is used to "teach" the dog either to not bark or to stay in certain boundaries. It is cruel and very painful for the dog.It shocks the dog, like when you rub your feet on the carpet and touch someone/something and get shocked. But on some cruel collars how much shock is given to the dog can be altered so it hurts the dog more. Only very lazy and cruel dog owners use them because they don't want to take the time needed to properly train their dog how to behave without hurting the dog.

First of all... to "callmebabs" would you put it on something dead? LOL...ok
Basically there are several different kinds of shock collars and decide which is best for you. Most of your answers seem to be right on target about explaining what they are. It's your dog and if you wanna use a shock collar it is your perogative. Forget the negative "it's cruel" attitude. It's up to you. You can always take it back of you dont like it.
GOOD LUCK!

An electric collar that can administer a shock to discourage bad behavior or keep pet inside invisible fence.Be very careful my father had a Shepard that jumped on people. He used one of those collars and the dog went from friendly to viscous around strangers including me.

It is literally a collar that shocks your dog. It can be remote controlled or triggered by a buried "invisible" fence. It is not cruel as most say. It is a very effective training tool in all breeds. There are different sizes available. I used one on my toy poodle for a few weeks to help me train him when it was ok to bark and not to just run around barking incessantly. My vet recommended it!!!

Many trainers use them. My friends used them on their labs who are excellent hunters and retrievers thanks to it. The labs also will stay in their own yards now (without the collars) even when the gate is left open.

It is a collar that you put on a dog, it delivers an electric shock to the dog. I had one once for my dog that always jumped the fence and she would just ignore the shock.

I bought a shock collar once to train a doberman....the type I bought was triggered with a remote control....to teach boundaries, or to help train with commands. Before putting this collar upon my dog however....I made the decision that I would try it myself to see how bad it hurt. After one jolt I threw it in the trash...never to be used again.
Personally, I don't beleive in them, but, I'm not telling anyone else what to do.

It's a type of collar that slightly shocks the dog if it barks, to keep it from barking more. My mom's friend used to have one for her dog. Kinda cruel if u ask me.

When you put a certain type of collar on a dog and you get these sensors that act like an electric fence and it shacks the dog. It doesn't actually harm em very bad it just gives them like a prick on the neck. On of my dad's friend's dog has one on and it's mainly for keeping the dog inside an open yard on your property.
