linear algebra.
At least with calculus you can kinda visualise things. Trying to visualise the shadow of a 8-D line, a kernel, etc was intense.

Linear Algebra because the concepts were so difficult to grasp for me. Plus, my professor insisted on teaching the course at a graduate level, so that in itself screwed up everything. Calculus was like a new world of math at first too, but i thought you could still picture it..so it seemed easier compared to Lin Alg.

Linear algebra was a first-year course? I never even got to it when I was in school. Had to learn it on my own later for digital error correction.

Linear algebra. I don't know which is "harder," but calculus was far more interesting and seemed easier.

You say first year math course so that would be Calc 1 and diff eq wouldn't come into it yet til year two or three, so linear algebra.

I never took linear algebra but i've heard and done calculus and did not think that it was that hard so I can't decide yet.

Linear algebra is tougher to understand. Especially Groups and Fields blows away your mind if you wanna know them. But Claculus is difficult to solve on paper but the perception is relatively simpler. ODE's have to be solved differently. But you need both if wanna have your Engg foundation Very strong
