Let them clean themselves. Unless they get into something that will make them sick, then leave them alone.
Cats hate anything that is not their own idea, so you probably won't get them completely comfortable with water.
Cats tolerate water better when you start giving them baths as kittens.
Cheers.

well, unless your cats really needs it (i.e flea bath, been rolling in poo, or has a skin condition the vet told you to wash them for) there is no reason to give a cat a bath. Also, DO NOT USE PEOPLE SHAPOO OR SOAP!!! Tehy make cat shampoo, use it it won't make the cats sick or hurt their skin. Cats naturally don't like water, nothing to be done about that. I find the best way to bathe my cats is to not actually put them in the water. Go in the bathroom, and close the door. Then use a wet towel or washcloth to get them wet. apply a tiny bit of soap, and then keep rubbing them down w/ a clean wet rag. It takes forever and they still ifght some, but you end up with less scratches. If you MUST bathe your cats, try getting the little plastic nail covers from the vet. Keeps you from bleeding or having to declaw them.
Good luck.

Sacrifice a few fish. Fill up a wading pool outside and add some goldfish. If your cats are indoor cats, fill up the tub and add a few goldfish. Watch em hop in. Goldfish are super cheap and you only need a few every time you bathe em. If it's too icky for you, then get your hubby to do it, or think about how kitty litter is ickier......Lol.

They shouldn't need to be washed? Unless they are ill or a very long-haired breed they should be able to do it themselves. You could also take them to a groomer, which would save you a huge hassel. I know some PetSmarts that have grooming departments are certified to do cats (i work at a petsmart).

well the best i know is to expose them to as much water as possible, but I'm sure you already tried that.....so I'll tell you that you shouldn't really need to give yer kitties any baths, they should clean them selves up fine....cause cats are naturally afraid of water...so don't like hurt yerself trying to give them baths that they might not need or definitely want.....

my cat was 6 weeks old when i got it, and i would always take it in the pool with me, now, 5 years later, he doesn't mind swimming a few laps with me. i guess getting him used to it at a very early age desensitized him to the water.
