John 15:18 "If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. 19 If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

Most Christians through out the World are not persecuted in my personal view. There are some places like Sudan where there is fighing between Christians and Muslims, where persecution is taking place, as the Christians and animists attacked the Muslims in the early 1980s, expecting a quick victory or some areas where communists are fighting the religious of some groups or other places like India or Pakistan where occasionally some Christian missionaries are attacked by the extremist elements.
Please know that when one is intrusive, even though with kindness and good intentions, people react to you. Irony is those who are intrusive may not represent everyone in their group and may cause others to pay a price for their own activity.
It is best to not go uninvited, even though you have the best perfume to sell, and your potential users are all stinking bad.
I hope this makes sense.

I am going to make the assumption that you are talking about persecution TODAY...not in the past (which if many of your hostile responders here had read THEIR history books, they would find that Christians suffered persecution before the Roman Empire became Christian, itself-and what about the person who claimed HITLER was a Christian...that's really hilarious...clearly that person did not read his/her history book...must have missed the part where there were many Christians who were political prisoners in Nazi concentration camps)
So anyway...if we are talking about modern times-it is very rare for a Christian church to persecute others because it goes against Biblical principle...Christians who follow the Bible are instructed not to hate anyone but to show love to everyone-especially your enemies. The Bible teaches us to 'turn the other cheek'. Yes, unfortunately, there are many (such as Fred Phelps) who twist and pervert the Bible and use Christianity as a platform to spread his hate...but there are many more alleged Christians who are spreading love and goodness.
The reason why Christians are hated so much outside the western world is because their message of love and truth, equality and freedom disrupt oppressive political systems. For instance, in India, where a harsh (religiously based) caste system exists-there is a class considered the lowest of the low who are not fit to employ, help, educate and Christian missionaries come in and defy this system by helping these people.

Christians are no more persecuted than any other religion. Christians cry persecution when they can't get their way. When they are told that they can't shove their beliefs down others throats they cry persecution. They don't want to accomodate anyone elses beliefs.
Christians are no more loving than any other religious people either.
Quit playing this game. Read up on history. Christians persecuted and massacred a lot of people right up to the middle of the twentieth century.

Since you wanted an example of recent Christian persecution, I'll give you one that highlights both that Christians are very much persecuted even in the supposedly civilized Western world as well as being the persecutor: Northern Ireland (as in part of the United Kingdom). Just *yesterday* the Orange held their racist parades that victimize the Catholics who live there. Similar practices have been banned in every other country in the world as being wholly racist yet for some reason it still goes on in Northern Ireland. As little as 5 years ago, Protestants would actually throw stones at Catholic school children just trying to get to school!!!
That recent enough an example for you?

where do you get your information?? is this question a joke, or are you really that uneducated?

christians are STILL persecuting people TO THIS DAY. it's because of you people that gays are being denied a fundamental right. (and depending on how loosely you want to define "persecute", they're persecuting a lot of other people too.) --- not to mention, as recently as 150 years ago, it was the christian consensus that black people aren't real people. who do you think ran the south?
and a lot of people have asked, but you still haven't answered, HOW EXACTLY AND WHERE ARE CHRISTIANS BEING PERSECUTED? i can assure that the only places are in places of religious oppression, and in those places ALL OF THE RELIGIONS (except for the one in control) ARE BEING PERSECUTED.
furthermore, don't just go dismissing the last thousand years. christianity is a disgusting religion that follows a disgusting book, and those are good examples of it. you can't just erase the past. we won't let you.

In very few countries are Christians persecuted, and yet they have a long history of doing so. Did you know that Nazi's were mostly Christians? What about Fred Phelps? Nice guy isn't he, will all his loving signs and nice protests at military funerals.
I myself am persecuted here by bible thumpers appalled at my choice to be free of religion. The Crusades? Nearly every war in the last few hundreds of years? Being religious does not make you good, just as being an atheist does not make me immoral.

Have you been living in a box your whole life? Christians are the number one persecutors worldwide, historically, and are in a neck and neck race with Muslims today.
Poor little martyr, maybe you'd like to share some of your aweful persecutions with us. Did someone refuse to say 'under god' when praying the pledge of allegiance? How horrible that must have been for you! Or maybe, you saw a pagan bumper sticker in the parking lot intermixed with the thousands of Jesus fish symbols. How I pity you! Why should you be persecuted like this!!!?

John 15:18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
21 But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.
22 If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin.
23 He that hateth me hateth my Father also.
24 If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father.
25 But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.

Yup, nice try, Have you ever walked by any street corner and been harassed by some loser demanding to know if you've been saved yet? Have you heard of President George W Bush and his campaign against anything muslim? Have you ever heard about the inquisition or the German concentration camps or the Salem witch trials? Have you walked past an abortion clinic, or family planning centre? Have you heard about the crusades, or are you homeschooled by fundamentalist parents? The list goes on for miles, but I think you can get my point. So called Christians have killed more people for disagreeing with them than any group throughout history

In the Holy Scriptures Jesus tells us in St. Matthew 5:11, Blessed are you when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and say all manner of evil against you falsely for my sake. (unquote) and another Scripture states: If any man live godly, he shall suffer persecution. So it is a way of the Christian life, because even as Christ has suffered in the flesh, we must arm ourselves likewise. it will not be in vain, it will pay off now, and in the end when we see the Lords face in peace, when all suffering will be over. certainly it will be worth it all. Praise God!
