The concept of a spirit has never been proven to exist so hopefully you do think with your brain otherwise you are in for a long hard life.

Your spirit is capable of independent thought--it's also called your conscience. We don't understand brain injuries and Alzheimers well enough to answer the why of it, but the spirit is not dependent upon the brain, so the people still have memories that we may not hear of. The spirit will not animate the body if the brain is removed, for God did not make the body work that way, the body is dependent upon all organs. It's the most magnificent "machine" on the planet! The spirit belongs to God and the Bible says that we shall know one another in Heaven, etc, so yes the spirit has memories if the brain is destroyed (destroyed brain means death).

The brain is physical, the spirit is, well, spiritual...The brain is the control center for what we can see, hear, touch and taste. The spirit is the control center for what goes on behind the scenes, our values, our convictions, our attraction to God etc. Our spiritual condition can influence what our brain thinks and what our brain thinks can influence our spiritual condition, so they sort of work as a team, the thing is that when our physical parts have worn out, the spirit lives on forever, it is not bound by the laws of physics except for when it is tied to our physical body. Without the brain and other members of the physical body, the spirit cannot animate the body. Demonic entities may be able to animate seemingly inanimate things, but that is a different topic.
Upon death it is no longer tied to our bodies. However, don't be fooled into thinking that this phenomenon gives our spirit free reign. The choices we make when in the physical have impact for eternity. So choose wisely.

I do believe the spirit is an independent entity, but I don't know if there would be any purpose to its animating the body exclusive of the brain other than an emergency type of situation. (Ie: lifting a car off of a person or something like that.)
I definitely believe that the soul or spirit has independent memories which are carried subconsciously from one physical incarnation to the next. We only remember them all in the spiritual dimension. I also believe that the soul travels from the body frequently as we sleep, as it need to leave the confines of the physical body every so often.

VERY GOOD, very good.
This is what I have learned.
YOU are a Spirit. Just like the Angel's (invisible). But YOU have a Body, so we can see you. If you come out of your Body, you will enter the Spiritual REALM completely. If you came out of your Body, you would look JUST like your Body. YOU (a Spiritman) have arm's, leg's, face, ear's, toe's and finger's etc. YOU fit exactly into YOUR BODY.
YES, when YOU come out of your Body, you will be able to Access your SOUL (Spiritual Super-Computer, second mind), but you will leave your BRAIN behind (Body fall's over onto Ground).
YOUR Brain make's it possible for you, a Spiritman, to use your SOUL(second mind) to access your Body through your Brain, recieve Sensory Input's from your Body etc.
YOU can think, your SOUL contain's the Main Memory Bank's, and your SOUL will never be taken away from you.
Brain Damage stop's the SOUL from accessing the Damaged Part of the Brain, but, through different teknique's, the SOUL can re-route an undamaged part of the Brain to take-over those dutie's of the Damaged part.

I think both have a lot to do with it. I don't claim to know how the two interact, but here's an idea: what if the spirit is in charge of how we feel, and the brain is in charge of carrying out the expressions of those feelings. So people with brain damage can still feel things, but not express all of them. Just a hypothesis. If I ever get brain damage, I'll let you know--um, maybe not.
Seriously, though, I spent the last three days of my grandma's life with her. Even though she couldn't talk, and could barely even express discomfort, I still felt her presence very strongly, and felt that she could feel mine. I was with her when she died, and I could feel her spirit leave. The brain mighth be in charge of carrying out expression, but the spirit is still the essence of who we are.

1.yes, your spirt knows the answer as it is a part of the Creator.
2.the link between the mind and spirt is thin enough as we have a tendacety not to listen to its quite voice.
3.as long as the older more prmitive part of the brain is intact there will be some contact between the two. if is removed or to damaged to much then the answer is no.
4. the sprit remembers everthing and forgets nothing.

If I really, really thought with my brain 100%, I would not be answering this question, nothing wrong with your question, I wouldn't even be on line right now! If I though with my spirit, my heart would be answering.....guess my heart is answering and I DO understand your question. when the brain is gone our spirits are not on yahoo, promise!

No one can live without his or her brain, so you could say that there is where the soul lies. But aren’t many other organs necessary for life? Why yes. So the brains is the organ that rationalizes and in general controls your whole body. So no, I don’t believe in souls, just brains.

You think with your brain. Look for a book about the function of the brains.
