They call me Ishmael. Okay maybe not...I don't think I look like an Ishmael...so I guess Hey Chicka will have to do. Actually I didn't think I cared until someone addressed me as Mrs. the other day...I wanted to cry...then when a guy about 30 called me ma'am I ran for the miss Clairol...It is a sad thing to grow older...LOL...even if I'm not 40 yet. So, stick with something that sounds young and somewhat disrespectful and I will be ecstatic.

Personally, I'm a "Miss" in formal communications, my first name in informal ones, "hey you" at work, and "Lady Darkness, avenger of all that is good" when I'm in a wimsical mood.

Pretty much any woman under twenty is a Miss. An older women is a Ms unless she specifically asks to be Miss, or is married, in which case she is a Mrs.

A boy can be called Master until about the age of ten, after which he becomes a Mister. And, of course, people with professional titles (Doctor, Admiral, Captain, ect) should be called by those.

It's up to you. If the person is much older, then Mr. and Ma'am are okay, Sir and Ms. are always correct, but younger or same age should be addressed as Miss and Sir.

Scott/Scotty or Bro etc to friends or with my permission; Mr Sanchez at my work or if you know only my last name; Sir in all other contexts. This last should be no problem once the other recognizes that I'm a guy. Anyone who doesn't respect my dignity isn't worth my politeness.

"Hey you" I ignore. "Excuse me sir" is the way to ask my attention.

I grew up in the south and it was always mr or mrs. if the person was single we called them miss. accually everyone called someone miss and than thier first name. we where never allowed to call someone who was older by thier first name. when i moved to the midwest and called ladies maam, they said they where not used to that.

You can call me Ray, or you can call me Jay, or you can call me Ray Jay Johnson Jr.

I was HaHa in high school. Brought about because my little brother couldn't say my name. Some of my closer kin have shortened it to Ha. So a common greeting is, "Hey, Ha!" I kid you not!

There was one who called me Sunshine! I loved that.

I'm most often called Mom these days.

Don't call me a chick. Not that I don't enjoy it, but my husband finds it offensive for some bizarre reason.

I sign off as
Heather E.
It's what I go by
