I need a root canal on one of my Molars, is there a cheaper option besides pulling the tooth?

If you have been diagnosed and have had a root canal treatment recommended, you have three choices.

1. Get the nerve taken out (root canal treatment).
2. Get the tooth taken out.
3. Don't do anything.

I recommend #1.

It's not fun I know but here's what's happening: A cavity or other type of decay could have infected your root. If the tooth is not looked into and it is an infection it could worsen and cause bone loss in the jaw. Sensitivity though could mean a cavity or just sensitive teeth. My dentist gave me a prescription strength toothpaste for sensitive teeth, and it has done wonders. I encourage you to go see your dentist and at least get an idea what may be going on in there. It could be something simple or it could be something that could get worse if you ignore it. Root canals sound terrible but they are in fact much better than the pain that comes with not having them done. (and you may not even need that) You may need a filling or a pulp cap, maybe just a good cleaning (it really does wonders) I have had many dental procedures done but I am by no means an authority. Check with your dentist for the best method of treatment for you. If you have questions: ASK! It is very important that you trust your dentist and maintain communication about your visit. Good luck.

Only other option is to pull the tooth. I just had a root canal with tons of complications.

There are only two things you can do to this tooth, pull it or save it by having the root canal done. I always feel that if possible, people should invest money in their health and keep their teeth around.

You should restore the molar tooth by root canal treatment. It is more advantageous on long term basis.

The cheaper alternative is extraction. However I would do everything I could to keep the tooth.
