No, that would just encourage people to keep saying it.

Well I don't totally agree with you. I do agree that gonna is already widely used in the world. However, the contraction of the phrase "going to" (gonna) doesn't seem too formal. Words in our dictionary today are formal in nature (i think :) )
I think it needs more time before it can be accepted as something formal because as of now we recognize it as a slang/contraction of the aforementioned phrase.
Unless you or anyone else wants a revolution in our dicitonary. :)

I agree... if people have taken the liberty of adding blah-blah-blah in the dictionary (*no joke-- I noticed it in a dictionary while looking up another word!*) i think gonna should definitely be added. There is other slang in the dictionary as well, and gonna is slang- therefore it should be added!

It would help to have "gonna" in foreign dictionaries so foreigners are not surprised when they talk to Americans and don't understand what they are talking about.
I am not sure that "gonna" should be treated as a word and become part of grammar.

I think you find it in any good dictionary, but marked as 'slang' or 'fast speech'.

no, the English language is already fractured by slang and Ebonics, you don't want the whole world to think the Americans are all hillbillies do you?
