I cannot reconcile the lavishness of my world with the misery that presses at my gates.
How do I reconcile these feelings and enjoy the bounty at my table?
Should I indulge my impotence by lavishing in my Western guilt or should I reconcile my feelings by taking action and doing something positive to share my wealth?

i like to take pictures of my stuff and post them where others less fortuntely can see them...

IF you feel guilty at the dinner table, you can fast and skip that meal or a couple of meals so you can experience hunger the way the other countries do. And also pray while you are fasting.
Donate money over seas to charities that will help feed and house those third world countrires. Send them bibles to help with a ministry over there. God blessed you with the ability to help these people, and it's up to you to find out what the best way to do that is.

You have had your hard times as well, just in differing forms. I will quote Proust: "Everything great that we know has come from neurotics.
Never will the world be aware of how much it owes to them, nor above all what they have suffered in order to bestow their gifts on it.”
By being a great parent, loving mate, and good friend, you ease the suffering of your fellow mates. It all works out in the end.

If you are a Christian I think you can be comfortable in the thought that God just loves you more, that seems to be how he works his evil uncharitable ways...oh and here's a thought open the gates and help someone else!

You should try to give 5% of your income to charity. That is reasonable. Make sure you are also saving for your future, as well.

Unfortunately giving five percent would probably put most people in line for handouts from the church
