If it weren't for China protecting North Korea, we probably wouldn't have much trouble controlling North Korea issue. But, what I'm wondering is if someone has told Kim Jung-Il to cause trouble while US is so deep in the Middle East. Our position is well extended after all, and it's proving difficult for Pres. Bush to come up with something more clear and definite than the current position of "let's convince him" policy.
It's really disgusting how poorly Kim Jung-Il treats his people as mere slaves in existence for his pleasure and measures. But, we can't send any type of aid because the government takes control of them and instead of rationing off food and other items, they sell them for profit to the people. He's everything that US stands against, and it would be wonderful to see him dethroned.
As US citizens, I do believe one voice is important: have sympathy towards those suffering under his regime, but stand firm that we can kick his butt if that's our desire. That said, we are really extended at this time with the Middle East ordeal. I saw few documentaries about our fighting boys in the special units, and it made me so proud. There really is a lot to be said about our military, and I would like to salute you for your service!

No Gunny, Kim Jung is not a moron. He's just blackmailing the U.S. again, and will probably be successful, as he has been in the past. In case you didn't know, the facilities to produce atomic bombs were given to North Korea by the U.S. What to do: Tell NorthKorea, through their big brother, China, that the U.S. intends to permanently station ships of the 7th Fleet 12 miles outside of their country with standing orders to shoot down any missile they put up. That's what Reagan would have done, but Bush will probably try to bribe them with more petroleum, food,
money and God knows what other goodies. If it's not against the rules of this Forum, contact me at vancamp405@sbcglobal.net for more info on N. Korea. Semper Fi!, Guaro

It's hard to say. Japan is really upset about this and really wants to take action but as the international law states that Japan can't have an army or attack another country unless they are attacked first. They are trying to drum up support to have that law removed so they can take care of Kim Jung Il themselves. Japan having an army again is a scary thought. Look how much destruction they did before and during WW2. I still don't trust them with an army. If the US attacks I think that our country would be spreading their army too thin. So that means S. Korea and China would have to be the people to fight. S. Korea has just recovered from the Korean war economically. China doesn't want to get involved. It just sounds like unless Kim Jung Il does something really bad (as in killing people outside his country) they will continue the mind games. When he steps over the line of killing people from a neighboring country, hell will be unleashed and everyone will fight.

We can't do anything without the cooperation of all major players, including China and Russia. Every time we go without them on our side (which is actually all the time), we end up battling one or both of them, directly or indirectly. Russia's half on our side, China isn't, but they are loosing patience with the North (at least that is my impression).
But we have time, because we can't do anything while in Iraq and Afghanistan. Once those are tidied up, we should have Russia and China on board, and I think it is time then to start launching cruise missiles. If we don't, Kim (being a moron like you suggested), I think will launch a nuke at somebody. What will he lose?

If you're waiting for the people of North Korea to answer, you'll have a long wait. They're not allowed to answer such questions.

that's not how i'd symbolize John Adams yet ok. Oh, and how dare you call Jung-Un a snot-nosed twerp. the right expression is "little fat snot-nosed twerp." he's not all undesirable although. He likes correct 40 music which places him a pair rungs up the ladder from his dad.

Mr. Kim is an excellent poker player.
Expect him to demand money in return for not selling those missiles to rogue nations.
