Try Don Julio 1942 - you can sip it it's so smooth.
Chinaco Anejo is also very good.

It totally depends on your sensitivity of taste.
I always thought I hated tequila. Then I met someone who proved to me that it was because I had only ever tried crap tequila.
If I'm going to take it straight, I usually drink 1800 Reserve and it's what I keep on my shelf. Look for 100% Agave tequilas (not anejo as stated earlier, anejo is rum) at least, but it's really one of those things that you get what you pay for.
If you try a good 'call' tequila for $35 and it tastes just like a $15 bottle of Two Fingers or Margaritaville, then don't waste your money. Get what you enjoy...that's the whole point.

Añejo tequilas are the best for shooting. As far as brands go its pretty much personal preference.

If you can find it, try tarantula tequila. It is very smooth and has a nice aftertaste.
