According to Fred Phelps and his congregation: "He is punishing us for the immorality that is happening now"

God isn't the one causing all of this to happen. Sinful men are the ones that attack one another and cause war, terrorism, and all of the other evils of the world.

Natural disasters, however, are just that: natural disasters. I live in Louisiana and we are still recovering from hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Do I blame God? Absolutely not. God did not cause any of that. What did? The weather. A hurricane is nothing more than a big fat rain storm. It isn't alive, it doesn't think or plan or scheme. It is nothing more than water and wind that happened to roll over the place where I live. We call these storms "evil" because of the loss of life and destruction that happened. But those storms weren't evil in anyway. Just bad weather.

That is a good question and the answer is very simple. Satan challenged God's sovreignty (HIS RIGHT TO RULE) in the Garden of Eden and told Eve that she and her husband don't need God and that if they eat of the fruit, they'll become all knowing like God. Satan wanted to show how HE will rule the Earth. He caused Eve to eat of the forbidden fruit, and then Eve gave some to Adam. The first human couple thus rebelled against God. God has stepped aside in order to show humans that they cannot rule themselves. This is true when you see how many governments have been set up and how they failed/will fail miserably (dictatorship, communism, etc.)

Many people seem to not notice a very important fact found in the Bible. It's found in 1 John 5:19

"We know we originate with God, but the whole world is lying in the [power of the] wicked one"

Satan is the ruler of this world. Yes, it is very clear when you look around and see all the terrorist attacks and natural disasters as you called them.

Because there is a devil and his dark angel followers who are on this earth. Just remember that God hates sin, but loves the sinner. However, if you sin you are not listening to God, and these people do terrible things that are not what God wants!
The end of the world is coming soon, all these disasters are a sign. Read about what Jesus says about the end of times in Mathew or Mark? Or Read Revelations.

The best answer to that is that we are all endowed with free will. If "God" prevents certain disasters or acts of violence to occur, than he is denying us our right to free will. For instance, terrorist attacks - in order to prevent people from committing those acts, the will to decide to committ those acts must be censored. Although one would assume that a benevolent God would force everyone to act in a good and kindly manner, it's actually more logical to realize that if everyone was forced to be good, then they aren't good of their own choosing. The emphasis on the choice to do good things as opposed to bad is what is important. Choice is the most important power that we have.

In the instance of natural disasters, "God" allows those to occur, not because he wishes to punish us, but perhaps because he wishes to test us. If you've seen Constantine then you've probably heard the whole deal about humans being most noble in the worst situations (which I personally don't believe but what the hell...). Therefore, in order to bring out the best in humans, "God" allows these disasters to occur. Thus, our own heroism and goodness shines through and we stand a greater chance of doing more good in the world once we realize we are capable of it. In this way, it is an act of love rather than of punishment, hate, or anger.

I have always believed that if God does exist, he is soo powerful and soo full of knowledge and etc, that our little planet is probably no bigger in his mind than an Ant farm is to a school kid.

The kid watches the ants live out their lives, having fun, going to war, eating the resources around them and in the end...if feeling nice, may throw in a bit of extra food in there to make life a little easier. If feeling absent minded, may just leave it on the mantle and forget about them, where they will eventually die out, of perhaps will be mean and smash it to pieces and thus allow the lucky survivors a chance to go out and start again.

Basically, if you believe in God, he is all powerful and all knowing, so what happens in our world is probably a passing thought in the make up of all things he overseas....now if you actually think God is paying attention to all that happens on Earth, then you are saying that God exists for our world alone, and thus it could be argued then that God really is just a man made creation that gives hope to those who are unable to understand, too ignorant to know better, or a means for the powerful to control those around them.

I am an optimist and thus hope that God is just too busy with the rest of the vastness of everything that we are not really worth his continuous attention and he won't intervene when we, as the Ants mentioned above, go out and just treat each other poorly.

Sorry to be so blunt, but the bible was written by those who really thought our Planet was the centre of the universe, but in reality its not, so let's modernize religion to state that if God does exist, he really is a lot bigger than we are and really can't be bothered with our petty issues and etc.

It sounds like you aren't happy with "management", and/or aren't sure it exists!

Basically: people do terrible things because they have the free will to do so. They make rotten choices all the time. Some of them are lethal. God gave our ancestors a free will, and He doesn't take back His gifts. The problem is not God, and the problem is not free will: the problem is the wrongful exercize of that free will!

As for earthquakes and such: these are natural events that happen with a living planetary system. There is a lot of understanding about these things already; we aren't in the stone age anymore! KNOWING these things will happen (sooner or later) it is our responsibility to see that we are prepared.

Everyone goes through trials and tribulation. We live in a world that is full of sin. God only knows why some things happen. The only thing we can do is keep faith because God is in control. In my experience, I have seen many times where God has turned bad things around. A lot of the bad things that happen are a result of man.

1. God gave us a free will. We can choose to be involved in a terrorist atack if we wish because we may feel that it is more productive to get a point across via this means.
2. This is a fallen world and bad things happen because of the fact that sin entered the workd.

God created nature and lets it take its course. Mankind, on the other hand, has free choice. If we choose to live on an earthquake fault or a flood plain, then we have to accept the consequences.

Since some of us make bad choices, we must work together in communities to create laws to protect ourselves from those who make poor choices. The laws in the Bible are the first laws set down to protect both the wealthy and the poor, man and woman alike.

God expects us to do our part in creating peace on earth. If you're waiting for a miracle, you're going to have a very long wait...

“It has been told you, O mortal, what is good, and what the Eternal requires of you – Only this: to do justly, and love mercy, and walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:1

cause it is part of Gods plan to try and get this world back and the people totally on his side. Its like him tell us he can destroy this world in a second. We all came together as a nation when 9/11 happened for a few months then just separated we need to stay together all the time not just some times and we need to turn our eyes on him and not thing of this world
