It doesn't matter when, how often, or even how long a person drinks, to determine if they're an alcoholic, or not. It totally depends, on 'what' happens when a person drinks! Once an alcoholic starts drinking, they usually don't stop until they are drunk, they can't stop, they have to have a drink..."HAVE TO"...someone who has to take a drink, just to 'feel' right, or more comfortable...is beginning to have a serious problem. Some alcoholics, never lose their jobs, get into trouble, or even get a DUI, but, if they keep drinking long enough, they do become controlled by the alcohol, instead of the other way around. It becomes the only reason for existence. It can ruin careers, families, reputations, lives, and effect our economy. (accidents, insurance claims, etc. ) It is a disease, that not only affects the alcoholic, but the entire family, sometimes, for generations.

RE:
What is considered an alcoholic?
I know people who drink alot- but they dont think they are alcoholics. Is drinking every day considered alcoholic behavior or does it depend on how much, or if you're drunk?

An alcoholic is classified as a person whose drinking has a negative impact on their life and still continues to drink. Whether it's a negative impact on you job, family or health doesn't matter. If you can drink every day and not have it affect any other area of your life than technically you aren't an alcoholic.

A person who drinks every single day would be an alcoholic. It's not good to drink everyday, but it's alright if you have a beer every once in a while

NO, drinking everyday is not considered alcoholic. Besides, drinking moderately (1 or 2 glass) can actually help the heart. That's the reason why French has low cardiovascular disease compare to americans. Thanks to their wine.
But alcoholism is a different story, those people they tend not to know much about the beauty of wine drinking. They abused it too much.
