There are a lot of places like travelocity that can find good cheap vacations. They are cheaper than you think. My advice... get a shitty hotel close by to a beautiful beach. Who wants to be cooped up inside anyways? If you wanna get "romantic" do it outside somewhere pretty. The point of a vacation is to make it different.

Road trip!

Drop the kids off at Grandma's house for the weekend (she'll understand). Gas up the car, hop in and start driving. It doesn't matter where you go as long as you take the scenic route. If you pass through a small town that you like the look of, ask a local where you can obtain a marriage license (if you haven't gotten one already). Then ask where you can find a minister/priest/whatever. Invite people you struck up a conversation with at the gas station or that diner you ate lunch at to attend your wedding. Focus on spontanaeity, joy, and the beauty of the promise you're making one another: to be one another's best friend, and to do everything in your power to make that other person's life fuller and richer, and to help them achieve their full potential as a person.

Ask strangers for help finding a cake, decorations for your car, and flowers. If the Nowheresville doesn't have a florist, pick a handful or two of wildflowers. Hit the grocery store for picnic food (ya gotta have a wedding feast, right?). And don't forget to bring a camera and LOTS of batteries/film. This sounds really cheesy and low-budget - and I guess it is - but it really doesn't matter what you spend. What matters is the way you experience it. The most important thng is that you are together. In fact, the cheaper the wedding the better: The wedding doesn't make the marriage. You can both be flat broke without a pot to piss in, and you can still choose to be happy...because you still have one another.

Pretty corny, eh?

You should go to Playa del Carmen Mexico. I know people who did it there. There are wedding packages that are very inexpensive. Close friends will be glad to pay their own way to go to watch a simple beachside ceremony and then you also can have your honeymoon at the same time! The resort will plan everything for you. Ask a family member to watch your children the night of the wedding so you can spend at least one night alone. My friends just did this and had a BLAST! So did the kids and all the guest. THey only had to pay for their tickets/reservations and everyone got a vacation !!!

Or, you could go to Vegas for a few days, but you would prob. just blow your money gambling. The Mexico thing is a way better deal and is way cooler!

Las Vegas. Over 70 chapels to choose from, wedding packages starting from $25 (though if you spend $200+ you also get flowers and photographs), and there are some very pretty chapels there - including the Graceland Wedding Chapel, Little Chapel of the Flowers and Little Church of the West.

Weekday wedding packages tend to be cheaper than weekends.

Good luck - and have fun!

Go to the justice of peace, get married, send the kids to your moms and spend money on a good honeymoon.

My hubby and I took a weekend trip to Las Vegas to get married. You can find airfare/hotel packages pretty cheap. Good luck and congrats!
