Its a very expensive city to live in. Cabs can add up in expensives, but thats why trains and buses were invented. Most cab drivers arent scary unless your racist. NYC actually has seasons, hot&humid during summer, cool&crisp during fall, cold&pretty during winter, beautiful in spring. It has good clubs, resturants, muesums, people. I've lived here all my life and absolutely love it. never boring

New york is a neat city to visit, is very, very crowded tho, the traffic is a nightmare and the taxi drivers are crazy, plus they charge way to much to take you from one block to another. You won't get bored tho, there are tons of things to do and not even that expensive, NY is totally different than any other state in the US, is a unique state with buildings all over the place. If you go there don't forget to go to the Statue of Liberty. Good luck.

Apartments are small and expensive. It's much safer than it was over 20 yrs ago. Practically everthing you might be looking for can be found in NYC but of course not nature. The subways are unpleasant. Cabs are expensive and some drivers are scary.
Buses are slow but OK. I went to college here from out of town and stayed for 35 yrs .

My favorite city. If you can live in a dorm, it'll be affordable. It really is the city that never sleeps. You can get great food all night and all day long. Cabs are cheap; really excellent ethnic food can be found fairly cheaply (especially Chinatown or little Italy). Something is always going on.
However, it can be crowded and noisy, so you'll have to learn to deal with that.
