People that are deaf can't hear themselves or anyone else talk, therefore they can't speak like everyone else. It got called "dumb" because of the way it sounds when they do talk. In truth They're not really dumb, they just can't pronounce words normally because of impaired hearing.

It's not true at all. That's like saying blind people are dumb also.
Someone who is considered dumb isn't really dumb; Just not as intelligent as others think they should be. That doesn't make them dumb.
Actually, deaf people are alot smarter than you think. We have all of our senses and still don't use them. Deaf people don't, so they have to rely on different ways of communicating and learn things that we think are optional. Most Deaf people can't understandably talk. If they were born that way or some other problem may cause speaking problems. They learn to read sign language & to read lips.
You can't be dumb and do that & still live in this society that thinks you are dumb for being deaf.

This is an ignorant question. Deafness does not equate to dumbness, lack of intelligence. And do I sound like a dumb person to you? I'm deaf.

Just becasue you're deaf doesn't mean you're dumb. I think that term was used in the olden days when they were talking about a deaf person. They called them deaf and dumb, like they called Helen Keller.

They can either occur together or separately. Many deaf people have the ability to speak, and many dumb people hear just fine.

Actually there are more "dumb" (mute) hearing people than there are mute Deaf people. Just because someone doesn't speak doesn't mean that they are incapable of speaking. Many Deaf people are self-conscious about their voice.

Dumb means you can't talk. If you didn't know that, it means you're the dumb one.
And many deaf people can talk just fine.

being deaf does NOT make you dumb. my boyfriend is partically deaf and believe me he is nowhere neat dumb. this is a dumb question
