我也记不得了是在什么地方看到了,不过去www.baidu.com上搜一下“我是中国人,不是chinese”会有好多连接的,我并不是什么种族主义,只是不想让别人用侮辱性的词语来称呼自己时,自己还不知道。

"Chinese" and "Japanese" are the proper ways to refer to the local people in China and Japan. Nothing wrong with that.

There are many "impolite" references to the people in various countries which I will not mention here. No point of finding them out either.

In other countries like Britian or USA, the people are referred to as Briton and American. There is no "ese" here because "Britishese" and "Americaese" just do not sound right...

It's not, but I've got some questions for you (since I can't read Chinese fluently).

What does this article suggest we call somebody or something from these or any other countries.

Do they say that American or Canadian is contemptuous? Or only the "ese" ones?

What reason do they give for it being contemptuous?

How is it contemptuous? It does not make sense because the "ese" part does not denote anything negative.

No one should be offended - even people from Portugal are called PortuguESE.

:)

A word can only be derogatory if is is used in a derogatory way.

It would do better if you added the "article" link here. From what you've said so far, I doubt anyone understood you.

I don't, that's for sure.
